VovaDoma Overview

I walked into VovaDoma on a breezy Thursday afternoon, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a friend’s apartment that just happened to have a hotel badge. The building itself is a charming mix of 19th‑century stone and modern glass, sitting on 5 Ierusalimi Turn right where the old city’s narrow lanes give way to the wider streets that lead toward the river. The first thing you notice is the bright, hand‑painted sign in front, and the smell of fresh baked bread wafts in from the small café on the corner—an impossible scent to miss if you’re already in Tbilisi. The lobby is surprisingly cozy, with worn leather seats and a low, flickering fireplace that gives off a faint hint of cedar. I’ll admit the décor is a bit eclectic, but that’s part of the charm; the staff’s enthusiasm makes up for any off‑beat details.

Check‑in was a quick, informal affair. The desk clerk greeted me with a warm smile and said, “We’re a bit of a family here, so grab a seat and tell us what you need.” She handed me a keycard and a small guidebook that had handwritten notes in a cramped margin—somewhere between a tourist brochure and a local’s personal tip sheet. The keycard works in the room, but I had to remember to disable the auto‑wake feature on the TV; otherwise, it flickers on at 7 a.m. every day, which is a mercy if you’re a light sleeper. The room itself is a bright, airy space with floor‑to‑ceiling windows that offer a sweeping view of the city’s rooftops. The bed is a bit too firm for my taste, but the mattress topper they provided was a lifesaver. The bathroom was spotless, though the showerhead could use a quick rinse to get rid of that mineral buildup that’s typical in the Georgian water supply.

One of the best perks is the parking situation—there’s a small, secure lot right next to the hotel, and they let you in for free if you’re staying more than a night. I parked my car there and was glad to avoid the chaos of the busy streets, especially during the summer when the city turns into a festival of colors and noise. Speaking of noise, the hotel’s location is surprisingly quiet for a city center spot. I could hear the distant chatter of people at the nearby Shardeni Street café, but the building’s walls do a good job of muffling the traffic from the main road. If you’re an early bird, the morning light is magical; you can see the old city’s spires poking out of the trees, and the air smells faintly of coffee and roasted chestnuts from the market across the street. By late afternoon, the windows in the hotel nearby are stained with oranges and pinks—an actual taste of Georgian sunsets.

I walked out of the hotel for a quick stroll to the historic Bridge of Peace, and the whole area feels like a living museum. The street vendors sell everything from blue pottery to freshly made khinkali, and the scent of simmering tomato sauce lingers in the air. I stopped at a little bakery on Rustaveli Avenue and bought a loaf of flatbread; the crust was perfect, the inside chewy, and the butter melted into a silky finish. Then I made a detour to the Old Town’s Mirroor‑shaped alleyways—there’s a small art gallery tucked away that showcases local artisans’ work. The whole experience felt very authentic and unfiltered. The only downside I noticed was the Wi‑Fi signal, which is spotty on the roof deck; if you’re a digital nomad looking for a stable connection, you’d be better off in the lobby or the café across the street.

Overall, VovaDoma is a gem that feels more like a home than a hotel—friendly staff, practical amenities, and a location that puts you close to the city’s beating heart without sacrificing comfort. The blend of old and new, the local flavors, and the genuine warmth of the people make it worth the price—especially for those of us who want to experience the real, unfiltered side of Tbilisi without the usual tourist traps. If you’re planning a trip, pack a comfortable pair of shoes, bring an open mind, and get ready to fall in love with this little slice of Georgian life.

Reviews of VovaDoma

  • Exceptional – Ilona from United States – September 2, 2025 (10/10)

I stayed at this property for 5 nights and couldn’t recommend it more. My room was super cozy and had everything a traveler might need, including a hairdryer, iron, utensils, coffee cups, wine glasses, and coffee and tea. There was also a minibar, which came in very handy after a long journey to Georgia. Special thanks to the host for arranging an early check-in, as my bus arrived way ahead of schedule, around 4 a.m. I had no trouble finding the hotel, just follow the instructions the host sends and check the location on google maps in advance. The property is right in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of many attractions, which is perfect for first-time visitors to Tbilisi. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe walking around the neighborhood at night. Even though the nearby streets are lively, I slept with the windows open and didn’t hear a thing. Whenever I return to Tbilisi, this will definitely be my top choice.

Great property: clean and spacious, great convenient location, very easy to find it; small workable kitchen and easy to enter and check out. It’s better to contact the property before your trip because no real frond desks there. Great experience for me!

Clean cosy room, had everything we needed it. Including coffee, tea, glasses, wine glasses, reasonable prices for snacks and wine in the fridge.

What could be improved: Hard to find the place based on the details written in the message. Photos and map would be better.
