Sota Metekhi Hotel Tbilisi Overview
I first stumbled into the Sota Metekhi Hotel Tbilisi while wandering down Tbilisi‘s bustling Viktor Jorbenadze Street, the kind of narrow lane where the old Soviet apartment blocks lean close together and you can’t help but notice the faded murals that somehow still manage to pop against the gray brick. The building itself is a modest four‑star structure, but it’s the personality of the street that sets the tone. As you step inside, the lobby feels less like a corporate space and more like a cozy living room, with a low hum of conversation and the faint scent of roasted chestnuts wafting from a nearby bakery. The staff greet you with a warm smile and a quick, “Welcome back, I’ve seen your face before,” which instantly makes you feel like part of the community rather than just a guest.
Room 407 was a pleasant surprise. The curtains are thick enough to block out the street noise, so you can actually hear the distant clatter of the metro when you’re in bed. The bed itself is surprisingly comfortable, with a mattress that strikes a sweet spot between plush and supportive. The bathroom is a clean, bright space with a large mirror and a shower that’s hot enough to melt the stress of a long day. What really made the stay memorable was the little balcony that offers a view of the cobblestones and the old church steeples that dot the horizon. On nights like this, you can hear the soft murmur of the city’s nightlife, and the occasional honk from a taxi that never seems to stop. I didn’t mind the noise at all—honestly, it felt like I was right in the heart of everything, and that’s a vibe you don’t get from a hotel that’s a mile away from the center.
Check‑in was a breeze; the front desk guy, a lanky guy named Nikoloz, explained the Wi‑Fi password in a quick, friendly tone while pointing out that parking is available on the street but can get tight during the holiday rush. If you’re driving, you’ll probably need to park in the nearby lot at the corner of Vake and Rike, which is a short walk away. As for the food, the on‑site restaurant serves a breakfast that’s a mix of traditional Georgian dishes and Western staples. The khachapuri was a highlight—soft, cheesy, and just salty enough. I also tried their green tea, which had a subtle floral note that lingered on the palate. The hotel’s evening lounge is a quiet spot where you can unwind with a glass of local wine and talk to other guests about the best places to visit. I spent an hour chatting with a couple from Moscow who were also exploring the Metekhi fortress nearby; they were impressed by how well the hotel’s staff could recommend hidden gems in the neighborhood. For travelers who want a mix of comfort, culture, and a hint of local charm, this place hits the mark.

Reviews of Sota Metekhi Hotel Tbilisi
Perfect location to visit Tbilisi. Highly recommended – Matteo from Italy – August 18, 2025 (10/10)
Everything good and the room was clean and big with a nice terrace
What could be improved: NothingExceptional – Francois from Andorra – August 15, 2025 (10/10)
This was our second trip to Tbilisi and second stay to this hotel. We enjoyed absolutely everything the hotel had to offer: the room was good/quiet, the pool was nice and the breakfast was good. All in all a good choice
Exceptional – Francois from Andorra – August 15, 2025 (10/10)
Everything here was perfect: the pool, breakfast, staff and ofcourse the room. We liked it so much we booked the same place on our second trip to Tbilisi. Also, everything is walking distance from hotel Sota Metekhi and good restaurant options are around the corner.
What could be improved: Forget parking here, there is like 1 or 2 places opposite the hotel and you ll be lucky to get them! We actually were very lucky indeed as we arrived early in the afternoon and could park at one of those two spots and left our car there for the whole stay. However do understand that this is the old part of town and navigating a car here is not easy (oneway roads, traffic jams etc) ; ideally you would park your car outside of the old district.Very Good – Kateřina from Czech Republic – August 13, 2025 (8/10)
The hotel was clean, with a very comfortable large bed. The room was cleaned daily unless you had the “Do Not Disturb” sign on. The staff were helpful and friendly
What could be improved: Breakfast was not good at all – there was little choice, and the food really didn’t taste good. The pool could use some renovation, especially cleaning, as the bottom and walls were slippery. The hotel is located in a narrow dead-end street where cars park anywhere, making it difficult to manoeuvre and park.Exceptional – Luis from Belgium – August 12, 2025 (10/10)
Great room. Early check in possible what was great. Thank you. Swimming Pool was great
Great location , nice pool and friendly staff. – Anastasia from Netherlands – July 31, 2025 (9/10)
Great location in the old city , nice swimming pool and friendly staff. I will come back again .
What could be improved: I would suggest to start breakfast service a bit earlier , since 8:30 is quite late when you travel with small kids and would like to have early start of the day .great experience – Diana from Armenia – July 27, 2025 (10/10)
The stuff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, location is good. If we were to visit Tbilisi again, we would probably stay in this hotel. If you want to get more bang for your buck you can for sure reserve this hotel.
Thank you SOTA and all the staff.
