Shota @ Rustaveli Boutique Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Shota @ Rustaveli Boutique Hotel on Shevchenko Street, you immediately get that feeling you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star boutique property sits right in the Mtatsminda district, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally in the heart of Tbilisi but tucked away on a quieter street that feels more residential than touristy. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which I actually appreciate more than those flashy hotel facades you see everywhere.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about this spot — you can walk to Rustaveli Avenue in about three minutes, but you’re not dealing with all that street noise at night. Mtatsminda is one of those neighborhoods where locals actually live and work, so you’ll find proper Georgian bakeries and small cafes mixed in with the tourist spots. The funicular railway to Mtatsminda Park is practically around the corner, and if you’re into exploring Tbilisi’s old town, it’s an easy stroll down the hill. Couples seem to get this location thing right — they’ve rated it 9.5, and I can see why.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve had in Tbilisi. They’ve clearly invested in proper beds because I slept like a rock — and that’s coming from someone who usually tosses and turns in hotel beds. The design feels contemporary but not cold, with enough Georgian touches to remind you where you are without going overboard. What struck me was the attention to details like blackout curtains that actually work and a bathroom that doesn’t feel like an afterthought.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast setup here is pretty solid — they do both continental and buffet style, which gives you options depending on your mood. I mean, some mornings you want the full Georgian spread with khachapuri and local cheeses, other days you just need coffee and pastry to get moving. The restaurant area has this nice morning light, and the staff actually seems to care about the coffee quality, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to wake up for a day of sightseeing.

Why Guests Love It

Look, with a 9.3 rating, this place is clearly doing something right. It’s that sweet spot where you get boutique hotel character without the pretentious attitude or the crazy prices of some five-star places. The location score of 9.5 isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can walk to most of what you want to see in Tbilisi, and when your feet are tired, you can actually retreat to somewhere peaceful. Plus, the staff seems to understand that travelers want genuine recommendations, not just the standard tourist traps.

To book a hotel in Tbilisi during major Georgian celebrations, travelers need early planning as this ancient Silk Road capital draws visitors eager to experience its sulfur baths and traditional hospitality.

The location was great! We walked to everything. They upgraded our room and it was huge! Shower had good pressure and was large. Bathrobes and slippers. We did not check out the hotel bar or breakfast (not included and seemed expensive). Great little ice cream shop around the corner.

  • Rikka from Philippines (10/10)

The hotel is located at the heart of downtown, almost all the attractions are walking distance. It has spacious rooms, so there’s no need to worry about having a large luggage like mine. It’s well-maintained, and the receptionists are friendly. The rooms come with smart TVs for Netflix, and the restaurant is excellent. The area is safe and clean, with regular police patrols due to its location near the parliament. We had a great stay here.
