Monument1880 Overview

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first heard the name Monument1880 – it sounds pretty formal, right? But this 4-star place completely surprised me in the best way possible. You know what struck me first? The building itself has this incredible sense of history that you can actually feel when you walk through the lobby. I mean, 1880 isn’t just part of the name for show – there’s genuine character here that most hotels try to fake with generic “vintage” decor.

The staff here actually knows what they’re doing, which is rarer than you’d think these days. Check-in was smooth (I arrived around 3 PM on a Thursday, so maybe I just got lucky with timing), but they seemed genuinely interested in making sure I had everything I needed. The rooms are well-appointed without being stuffy – comfortable beds, decent lighting for reading, and the kind of quiet that lets you actually sleep through the night. I stayed on the third floor and barely heard any street noise, even with the windows cracked open. The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping your elbows while brushing your teeth, and honestly, the water pressure was better than my apartment back home.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail that you notice after you’ve been there a day or two. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work – towels were always folded properly, and they somehow managed to make the room feel fresh every time I returned. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you experience how everything just… works. You know how some hotels nickel and dime you for everything? Monument1880 doesn’t play those games. The WiFi actually functions properly throughout the building (I tested it in the lobby, my room, and even the stairwells because I’m paranoid about connectivity). There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to upsell you every five minutes but instead focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well. I’ve stayed at plenty of 4-star properties that felt more like expensive 3-star experiences, but this one delivers on its promise. If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates quality over flash – good service, comfortable accommodations, and that intangible feeling that someone actually cares about your experience – you’ll probably love it here as much as I did.

Exploring Tbilisi offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Georgia’s cultural heart, from its ancient sulfur baths to its world-renowned wine traditions and stunning Caucasus mountain backdrop.

One of the best location in Tbilisi!! Good location for walking to the old town. Friendly staff, tasty wine and beautiful terrace! We had a beautiful time , drinking wine while sitting at the rooftop terrace . Thank you so much for your hospitality ! Next time we will surely be back to your hotel

  • Dmytro from Germany (10/10)

The location of the hotel is excellent. It was important to me that the hotel was within walking distance to the Georgian Parliament building. I only spent 15 minutes to get there on foot. Lovely clean rooms and very pleasant staff. The hotel has a great roof terrace which is available at all times. I was also offered a complimentary airport transfer and fine Georgian wine – free of charge.

  • Elissa from Sweden (9/10)

We had a lovely 3 day stay for a reasonable price. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and sweet to talk to. Irma even arranged for us to try Georgian wine after we missed the wine tasting the night before.
The best part of this place is the rooftop terrace with the view! Perfect to relax and chill after a day of exploring Tbilisi.
