House in Old Tbilisi Overview
I just stayed at the House in Old Tbilisi, and honestly, it’s a gem tucked away on Anton Katalikosi Dead End in Tbilisi. The place feels like a secret corner of the city that only locals know about. The narrow alley is lined with old stone buildings that smell faintly of baked bread and the distant scent of coffee from the café across the street—Leila’s Bakery, you know, the one that still uses the old wood‑stove. As soon as I stepped inside, the air was cool and a bit damp, a reminder that this is a centuries‑old neighborhood that never quite gives up its character. The lobby is small, but the walls are painted in warm, earthy tones, and the wooden desk has a worn, rustic charm that says, “welcome, friend.” The staff are super friendly—one of them, Nino, greeted me with a big smile and a quick “Good morning, how’s your flight?” It’s the kind of personal touch you only get at a family‑run place.
The rooms are a blend of old and new. I booked a double room on the second floor, and the view from the window is amazing: you can see the cobblestone streets, the ancient churches, and the distant hills of the Greater Caucasus. The bed was comfortable—firm but not too hard, and the linens were fresh. The bathroom is a bit small, but the shower is surprisingly good, with a decent water pressure that makes you feel like you’re in a spa, even if it’s just a 10‑minute shower. The Wi‑Fi is spotty, honestly, but you don’t really need it when you’re wandering around the old town. The only downside? The Wi‑Fi password changes every month, and I had to ask Nino for the new one, which was a bit of a hassle. But it’s a small trade‑off for the overall experience.
Getting around is a breeze. The hotel’s location on a dead end means you’re never stuck in traffic, and there’s a small parking lot just behind the building if you’re driving—though you’ll have to walk a few blocks to reach the main entrance. The area is lively during the day, with street musicians playing traditional Georgian music and locals chatting over tea at the small tea house on the corner of Anton Katalikosi and Shota Rustaveli Street. At night, the streets quiet down, and you can hear the faint echo of church bells from the nearby Holy Trinity Cathedral. I found the noise level to be just right—quiet enough to sleep but still alive enough to feel connected to the city. The check‑in process was quick; the staff didn’t rush you, but they were efficient. I appreciated that they gave me a map of the old town with recommended spots—like the sulfur baths and the Mziuri River promenade. Overall, it’s a place that feels like a home away from home, with a touch of history and a lot of heart.

The apartment is very clean and spacious, comfortable beds. The hosts are very friendly, they were waiting for us at the place and welcomed us with a bottle of wonderful wine, which was very appreciated. The location is outstanding, it's the most charming part of Tbilisi. We had great time and already want to come back!

A wonderful apartment. The place is close to the center of the country and all the tourist attractions. You do not need any transportation except to the airport. The owners of the apartment are wonderful and solve any problem with you.
What could be improved: No thingExceptional – Yossi from Israel – August 16, 2025 (10/10)
Prime lication in the old town, we traveled with a troler for our 3yo son so that was a huge advantage for us.
The owner was very atentive and flexible, assisted us with any questions and free parking for one night when we needed it.
What could be improved: The fasilities could use some freshing up (not the best drainage in the shower, sticky button on the toilet), but nothing that comes close to being a deal breaker.Wonderful – Julia from Canada – June 10, 2025 (9/10)
Very nice location and a clean appointment. The kitchen has the basics if you plan to cook. The building is very quiet. You do not hear the neighbors at all.
– Pavel from Russia – August 12, 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: Exceptional – Galina from Russia – July 23, 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved:
What could be improved: Все понравилосьExceptional – Armen from Armenia – January 4, 2025 (10/10)
