Heart Of The Old Tbilisi Overview
I was wandering along the narrow alleys of Tbilisi when I spotted the Heart Of The Old Tbilisi tucked against Kote Afkhazi Street 31, right where the cobblestones start to give way to the modern buzz of the city centre. The façade is a charming mix of stone and wood, and the little garden outside feels like a secret pocket of green that locals keep as a refuge from the traffic. As soon as I stepped inside, the smell of freshly ground coffee and warm pastries from the breakfast corner hit me – you can actually smell a hint of cardamom in the air, which is a staple in the Georgian breakfast spread. The lobby is cosy, with wooden panels that echo the old-world vibe of the surrounding Old Town, and the staff greet you with a warm smile that makes you feel like a friend rather than a guest.
Check‑in was a breeze; the receptionist was quick to point out the free Wi‑Fi password and the local SIM card options – handy if you’re flying into Tbilisi and want to navigate the city before your room is ready. The rooms themselves are a blend of rustic charm and modern comforts: think exposed wooden beams, a small balcony overlooking the city’s skyline, and a surprisingly soft mattress that promises a good night’s sleep after a long day of exploring. I do have to mention that the bathroom could use a little more modern touches – the tap is a bit old‑school, and the shower head could be upgraded, but the tiles are bright and clean, and the bathrobe feels like a cloud. The only thing that made me pause was the noise level from the street at 1 a.m.; if you’re a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs. But honestly, the city’s nightlife is a major draw, and the buzz outside is part of the charm.
The hotel’s location is a real win for anyone who wants to walk to the nearby landmarks. Just a five‑minute stroll brings you to the Metekhi Bridge, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Rioni River and the cathedral. I found myself lingering at the nearby Suliko Park, sipping a latte at a sidewalk café, and watching the locals play chess – the sounds of the city mixing with the clatter of cups is a uniquely Tbilisi experience. Parking is a bit of a hassle; there’s a small paid lot two blocks away, but the city’s bike‑share system is a convenient alternative if you’re staying for a few days. The hotel also offers a small shuttle to the Tbilisi International Airport, which is a lifesaver during the early morning flights that can otherwise feel chaotic.
Overall, the Heart Of The Old Tbilisi feels like a warm, welcoming home for travelers who want to immerse themselves in the city’s history without sacrificing comfort. The staff’s genuine enthusiasm for the local culture, combined with the hotel’s thoughtful touches – from the hand‑crafted welcome basket to the locally sourced breakfast – really sets it apart. Sure, there are a few minor drawbacks, but they’re far outweighed by the authentic experience you get here. If you’re planning a trip to Tbilisi, especially during the shoulder seasons when the city is less crowded, this place is a solid choice – you’ll leave with a sense of having truly lived in the heart of the old city.
To book a hotel in Tbilisi during major Georgian celebrations, travelers need early planning as this ancient Silk Road capital draws visitors eager to experience its sulfur baths and traditional hospitality.

Reviews of Heart Of The Old Tbilisi
Very nice place, I recommend it! – Andreeaionascu from Romania – June 18, 2025 (10/10)
The location is in the very heart of the old town, very central, nice area. The apartment is very spacious, clean and comfortable. We didn't expect to like it as much as we did.
What could be improved: The nights can be extremely noisy, because the windows are old and don't shut properly. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you, as we heard loud cars and people partying until 3-4 am.MUST STAY – Nikhil from India – March 27, 2025 (10/10)

Spacious rooms, values for money. And we like the kitchen where we cook mostly our dinner. Kitchen utilities are available, and groceries and store nearby.
What could be improved: Rooms near road side and stablishments, where you will be disturbed by outside noise.Very Good – Madamair from Thailand – February 25, 2025 (8/10)
