GSS – 5 Apartment Overview
When I first stepped off the tram at Tbilisi and walked down Beri Gabriel Salosi Avenue, the old Soviet‑era apartment block that houses GSS – 5 Apartment felt like a secret corner of the city that you only discover if you’re willing to wander a bit off the beaten path. The building is a bit of a character in itself—brick façade, a faded paint job that somehow adds charm, and a little lobby that smells faintly of old wood and fresh coffee from the corner café that’s a stone’s throw away. I mean, honestly, you could almost taste the sweet broth of khachapuri if you were to pause and let the aroma drift in from the street. Check‑in was a breeze: a friendly attendant handed me a keycard, explained the Wi‑Fi password (which, by the way, is a bit slower in winter but still fine for browsing), and let me know that the elevator is a quick ride up to the fifth floor—no long waiting times, which is a huge plus in a city where traffic can make you feel like you’re in a maze.
Parking here is a bit of a mixed bag. There isn’t a dedicated parking lot for the complex, but the streets around the building—especially on the side facing the Mtkvarze Street—offer a handful of street‑parking spots that are usually free if you’re early. The only downside is that the block’s narrow lanes can feel a bit tight with a delivery truck or a local bus in the same lane, so if you’re driving, you might want to keep an eye out for “no parking” signs that appear around the 3‑4 pm rush hour. The noise level is pretty typical for a central Tbilisi spot: at night, you’ll hear the distant hum of traffic, the occasional clatter of a café’s espresso machine, and the city’s nightly chatter that spills into the street from the nearby Rustaveli Street. If you’re a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs or opt for a windowless room—though honestly, the city’s buzz is part of its charm, and the lull of the metro station a few blocks away can be oddly soothing.
What really makes GSS – 5 Apartment feel like a home rather than a hotel is the little touches that locals love. The apartment is surprisingly spacious for a city apartment—there’s a small balcony that looks over the back alley where a group of street musicians will sometimes jam on a rainy Sunday, and the kitchenette is equipped with a kettle, a small microwave, and a set of mismatched mugs that someone left from a previous stay (they’re still there, and that’s the kind of thing that tells you people actually live here). The room itself has a single queen bed with crisp linens, a small desk that’s perfect for a quick email, and a window that frames the view of the city’s skyline at sunset—an amazing sight if you’re up for a late‑night walk. The only critique I have is that the air conditioning can be a bit noisy when it kicks in, but that’s a minor inconvenience compared to the overall experience.
If you’re planning a trip to Tbilisi, the GSS – 5 Apartment is a solid base for exploring the city’s many layers. Whether you’re heading to the ancient churches of Old Town, the modern art galleries on Gldani, or just craving a good Georgian dinner at a local khachapuri joint, you’ll find yourself in the right spot. I recommend arriving in late spring or early autumn—those seasons have the best weather, and the city’s nightlife is still lively without the crowds of the peak summer months. Trust me, the apartment’s cozy vibe, coupled with the bustling street life, makes for a memorable stay that feels more like living in Tbilisi than just visiting it.
Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Tbilisi through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for experiencing the city’s wine culture and architectural heritage.

What could be improved: маловато посуды (кружки, мелкие миски, острые ножи), ну и могло бы быть почище внутриОтлично, все соответствует фотографиям! – Ivan from Russia – January 8, 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved: Не хватало микроволновки, и в гардеробе были холодные полы, которые охлаждали спальню.Exceptional – Anastasia from Russia – August 1, 2024 (10/10)
What could be improved: Район довольно удалённый от центра. Шторка в ванной короткая, поэтому на пол попадала вода и его приходилось мыть каждый раз – это вроде бы мелочь, которую легко исправить.
