Double B at Freedom Square Overview

I landed in Tbilisi last month, and the first thing that stuck in my mind was the smell of fresh coffee and the crackle of old metro stations. I remember pulling up to the hotel’s address—Tbilisi freedom square, 0108 Tbilisi, Georgia—because the neon “Double B” sign was almost a guidepost for a night of new memories. The building itself is a 4‑star gem, but you’ll find it feels like a neighborhood apartment with a dash of luxury. Check‑in was quick; a friendly concierge cracked a joke about how he’d be “stuck” if he didn’t know the best spot for a late‑night gelato on Rustaveli Street. He handed me a key card that had the room number on the back, like a secret code, and told me the elevator was usually jammed on weekdays but smooth on weekends. No long queues, honestly.

Room 204 was a quiet haven after a day of exploring. The double bed was soft, the linens silky, and the view of Freedom Square was a subtle reminder of the city’s pulse—there’s a low hum from the traffic, a faint scent of street food, and at night, the lights on the old Soviet apartment blocks flicker like fireflies. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, the shower had that “air‑pressure” feel that makes you forget you’re not in a spa. I took a half‑hour walk to the nearby Tbilisi Opera House; the theater’s ornate façade was a visual treat, and the café on Maidan Square had the best black coffee I’ve had since I was a kid. The hotel’s parking is on the ground floor—just a 5‑minute walk—and the staff are generous with the keys, so you never have to worry about lost car spots.

The real charm is how the hotel blends with the neighborhood. The street vendors around Freedom Square offer fresh khachapuri that’s still hot as you walk past the lobby. I’d recommend heading to the nearby Rustaveli Market for a quick bite—locals call it “the heart of the city.” If you’re staying late, the noise level is pretty low; the only sounds are the occasional traffic hum and the distant chatter of night owls. The audio system in the lobby is decent, but the staff didn’t bother playing music—just the quiet hum of conversation, which is oddly comforting. On the bright side, the Wi‑Fi is reliable, and the Wi‑Fi password is only whispered in the lobby, so no one else can hijack your bandwidth. Overall, Double B at Freedom Square feels like a cozy, well‑timed pause in the whirlwind of Tbilisi, and it’s got the kind of local vibe that makes you feel at home without feeling stuck.

Reviews of Double B at Freedom Square

  • Very Good – Liuba77 from Spain – August 1, 2025 (8/10)

Amazing location, absolutely great. Big rooms. Nice breakfast

What could be improved: The hotel situated in a residential building and there is renovation in progress. And sometimes there is a smell from ventilation in bathroom.

  • Good! Will stay here again – Markus from Netherlands – July 31, 2025 (8/10)

Spacious and comfortable room which was spotless clean.
Close to all attractions of Tbilisi.
    Decent breakfast.

What could be improved: As the entrance is tucked away in a small alleyway just of Freedom square you might miss it. It is the alleyway adjacent to the Avis and currency exchange office. It is on the left. Reception is on the 7th floor.

  • I would definitely stay there again. – Yeva from Armenia – July 25, 2025 (9/10)

The location was perfect, and the staff were incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were all spotlessly clean, making the experience even more comfortable. Highly recommend!

What could be improved: The shower room was smelly.

  • Overall strongly recommended as a budget-friendly – Zelhachem from Lebanon – April 27, 2025 (9/10)

    New and very clean hotel
Extremely well located directly on the liberty square
    Large rooms
    Bathroom superb
    Friendly and helpful staff
    Breakfast was descent
    Hair dryer available on demand

What could be improved: The hotel entrance access was a little bit scary 🙂 as a first impression on arrival.
The bed mattress was not comfortable ( Not for all rooms).
Fridge was not available (Not for all rooms).
The pantry is open only at breakfast time, advice to keep it open as a lounge for coffee and tea self service.

  • Wonderful – Marjik from Uzbekistan – April 24, 2025 (9/10)

I like the location, breakfast, staff and the rooms. All was very good. Walking distance to the city attractions

  • Recommended 100%. – Georgios from Greece – April 21, 2025 (8/10)

The hotel is in a perfect location, in the heart of the old town. The main attractions of Tbilisi are in a walking distance. Bars and restaurants close to the hotel and supermarkets a few meters away.
The room is recently renovated, perfectly clean and spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast is nice, with pastries, cakes etc. and available between 10-11 am(too late for us- should be available 8-10 am).
The staff is very helpful and available to assist. The hotel's entrance is "weird" and difficult to find it the first time. So, I called the manager and she picked us up from a nearby building. I requested an additional betsheet and it is provided. I requested a mop to dry the bathroom floor and the cleaning lady came and wiped the floor, clean the cabin and refill the bathroom with soap and shampoo. She also changed our towels.
If I visit Tbilisi again, I'll be back to the hotel.

What could be improved: A few tips to make the accomodation more convenient. The room has only one hanger per visitor. Three hangers per visitor would make the accomodation easier. There is no bath mat or towel in the bathroom for the flooding water from the shower. It would make the accomodation easier.
The hotel is advertised on "Booking" with a fridge, a hair dryer and accept payments only by card. No fridge and no hair dryer in the room and the only available option for payment is cash.

The most important point was the way the staff demanded the cash payment. When we reached the hotel the staff demanded to pay that day in 2-3 hours with a pressing and unprofessional way(I knew before our arrival that they accept payment only with cash). My 8 is only for this reason.
