Brick House Overview
If you’re looking for a place that feels like a secret corner of Tbilisi, Brick House on Tsinamdzgvrishvili Street is that kind of spot. The first thing that hits you is the building’s quirky brick façade, which looks like it belongs in a 19th‑century factory but is actually a modern 4‑star boutique hotel. Check‑in is a breeze – the staff greet you with a warm smile, a quick scan of the room key, and a coffee from the little barista corner right in the lobby. They hand you a map of the neighborhood, point out the small park on the block, and say, “You’ll find the best khachapuri at the shop next door.” That personal touch feels like a friend giving directions.
The rooms themselves are a quiet sanctuary after a day of walking. The bed is a king‑size platform with memory‑foam sheets that feel like a cloud – the mattress is firm enough to keep you from wobbling during the night’s light snoring from the street below. I’m not a big fan of over‑bright lighting, so I chose the dimmer switch and turned on the bedside lamp that gives off a soft amber glow. There’s a kettle that boils in seconds – perfect for a midnight tea. The bathroom is spacious, with a rain shower that’s louder than the nearby traffic but still a soothing, rhythmic hiss. I noticed the tiles are a warm beige that feels like a gentle hug, and the soap dispenser is filled with a light, citrus scent that lingers just enough to remind you of the city’s citrus groves.
What really makes Brick House special is how close it is to Chugureti’s hidden gems. From the lobby you can see the old church on the hill, and the aroma of fresh pastries wafts from the bakery on Rustaveli Avenue, just a ten‑minute walk away. If you’re into art, the gallery on the corner of Shota Rustaveli and Tsinamdzgvrishvili is a must‑visit – the local artists display their work in a space that feels more like a living room than a gallery. And for a quick escape, the park’s walking path threads through ancient trees, the rustle of leaves mixing with distant traffic. I parked my scooter in the paid lot right outside the building – the city’s parking can be a nightmare, but here it’s a calm 5‑minute walk to the street. Noise levels are surprisingly low for a city hotel – the only sounds are the distant hum of traffic and the occasional chatter from the nearby café. I do have to mention that the elevator can be a bit slow during peak hours, but the staff’s polite “We’re sorry for the wait, please enjoy a complimentary tea” made up for it. Overall, the experience feels like staying in an older house that’s been lovingly restored, with all the comforts of modern life.
On a practical note, the hotel offers free Wi‑Fi – the signal is strong even in the basement room, which is a relief because the building’s old brick can sometimes block the signal. The staff are friendly but not overbearing; they’re quick to answer questions about the best routes to the airport or where to catch a bus to the Old Town. The check‑in time is 3 pm, but if you arrive early, they’ll store your luggage for a few hours so you can explore without the weight of a bag. The only minor critique I have is that the minibar is a bit pricey, but that’s a common issue for boutique hotels. If you’re planning to stay during the summer, be ready for the city’s heat – the windows have blinds that block the sun, but the air conditioner is a bit of a chiller. The quiet hours are from 10 pm to 7 am, and I found the neighbors to be respectful and not too loud. All in all, Brick House feels like a cozy, authentic slice of Tbilisi that you’ll want to come back to, whether you’re looking for a place to stay or a place to taste the city’s rhythm.
