Blue Balcony Hotel Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Blue Balcony Hotel on Shota Nishnianidze Street, you immediately get that feeling you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Tbilisi, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — I mean, couples are rating it 9.7 for romantic getaways, which tells you everything you need to know. The building itself has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with the old-meets-new vibe that makes Tbilisi so captivating.

The Perfect Tbilisi Base

You know what really struck me about this place? It’s positioned exactly where you want to be without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble. The hotel scored 9.6 for location, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re walking distance from the sulfur baths district — actually, you can smell that distinctive sulfur scent on certain evenings, which sounds weird but becomes oddly comforting. The old town’s winding cobblestone streets are right there, but you’re also close enough to Rustaveli Avenue that getting around the city is effortless.

The Room Experience

My room had one of those blue balconies the hotel’s named after, and it’s not just marketing fluff — the view actually delivers. You’re looking out over a mix of traditional Georgian architecture and Soviet-era buildings, with the Mtkvari River visible in the distance. The space itself feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate, with local touches that remind you you’re in Georgia, not some international chain that could be anywhere. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, which matters more than you’d think after long days exploring the city’s hills.

Local Neighborhood Charm

What I love about this area is how it feels authentically Tbilisi. There’s a small restaurant just two blocks down where locals actually eat — not the touristy places with English menus, but the kind where you point at what looks good and hope for the best. The hotel staff will point you toward these hidden gems if you ask, and they seem genuinely excited to share their city rather than just pushing the obvious attractions. Early mornings, you’ll see residents heading to work, kids walking to school, and elderly Georgian men playing backgammon in the small park nearby.

Why Guests Love It

The 9.2 overall rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s that sweet spot where you get professional service and comfort without feeling like you’re in some sterile hotel environment. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, and they’re incredibly helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to arranging day trips to places like Mtskheta or the wine regions. Plus, there’s something to be said for falling asleep to the sounds of a real neighborhood — distant conversations in Georgian, the occasional car on cobblestones, church bells in the morning. It feels like you’re living in Tbilisi rather than just visiting it.

Tbilisi hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Georgia’s cultural capital, known for its legendary wine culture and unique architectural blend.

We booked 3 rooms in this hotel for our family. Convenient location in the center of the city, small parking nearby, beautiful rooms, friendly staff.
I can't consider this as disadvantage, but I'd recommend to add a full length mirror and toothbrush holder.

It is a stunningly aesthetic property with a fantastic location. Located in a by lane yet right next to Freedom Square. Gracious staff, all conversed in English

  • Elise from Denmark (9/10)

The hotel is beautiful and also has an interesting history! It is right in the middle of the old town so is close to everything and very walkable, especially if you're arriving via the bus from Kutaisi, which we were. The staff is amazing – we had a great chat with the guy working reception while we were there (I've forgotten his name, unfortunately!) and he shared a lot about the hotel, Tbilisi, and Georgia in general.
The room was spacious, and the toiletries were very generous. Definitely recommend!

Amazing boutique hotel! The room was beautiful, the terrace enchanting and the staff is helpful and friendly!
Thank you to George, Nick and Irakli for making the three-day stay a great experience. Side note for future customers-the wine offered by the hotel is high quality and well worth a taste–or a bottle! 😉
