Art House Tiflisi Overview

I recently stayed at Art House Tiflisi, a 4‑star gem tucked on 10a Metekhi Rise, 0144 Tbilisi, Georgia. It’s one of those places that feels like an extension of the city’s own vibe—think cobblestones, old oak trees, and the kind of chatter that makes you feel instantly part of the crowd. The first thing that struck me was the lobby, where a local artist had painted a huge mural of the Metekhi Church in its full, sun‑bleached glory. Honestly, it was like stepping into a living postcard. The staff greeted me with a warm “Bok, welcome!” and the check‑in was a breeze—no long queues, just a quick chat over a steaming cup of Georgian coffee, which, by the way, had a nutty undertone that made me want to linger.

Parking in this part of the city can be a nightmare, but the hotel has a small, discreet parking lot right behind the building, so you won’t have to circle the Old Town for hours. I parked my car there and walked a few minutes to the nearby Rustaveli Avenue, where you can find the iconic Opera House and a handful of cafés that locals swear by. The noise level in the hotel is surprisingly low, even though you’re only a stone’s throw from the bustling Shardeni Street. At night, the only soundtrack is the distant hum of traffic and the occasional church bell from Metekhi. If you’re a light sleeper, you’ll appreciate the thick curtains and the fact that the hotel’s windows are angled away from the main street.

The rooms are a blend of modern chic and Georgian tradition. I stayed in the “Tbilisoba” suite, which boasted a panoramic view of the city’s rooftops; you could spot the TV tower flickering at night. The bed was plush, the linens crisp, and the bathroom—well, the shower had a great water pressure that made the morning routine feel like a spa ritual. I did notice that the minibar was a bit on the pricey side, but the selection of local wines made it worth the extra cost. Breakfast was a highlight: a spread of fresh pastries, yogurt with honey, and the best feta cheese I’ve tasted outside the capital. They even had a small table outside where you could watch the sunrise over the Mtatsminda Park—perfect for people-watching and soaking in that unique Tbilisi sunrise feel.

The only real drawback was that the hotel’s Wi‑Fi was a bit spotty during the busy peak season in August. I had to switch to the guest Wi‑Fi hotspot on the second floor, which was just fine, but it did slow down my video calls. That said, the staff were quick to help, and they suggested a nearby café on Mtatsminda Avenue that has a reliable signal. Overall, Art House Tiflisi is a great choice if you’re looking for something authentic. You’ll get the comfort of a 4‑star stay without the stiff corporate feel. And if you’re planning a trip in the quieter winter months, the hotel’s quiet hours mean you can actually enjoy a full night’s sleep while still being within walking distance of the city’s best dining spots like Barbarestan and Shavi Lomi. Honestly, I left feeling like I’d found a home away from home—full of local color, good vibes, and a few practical perks that make traveling a lot more pleasant.

Reviews of Art House Tiflisi

  • Exceptional – Jonne from Finland – August 27, 2025 (10/10)

Location, staff, room. All were really good.

  • Not our best experience – Michael from Russia – August 19, 2025 (3/10)

There were two things that I liked about the hotel: first, it is situated in the very center of the walking Tbilisi, we almost didn't take any transport during our week stay. Second, there was one person who did his best trying to make our stay more comfortable, it was Niko.

What could be improved: If I leave aside all the lyrical details and focus only on the essentials, this hotel does have some issues:

    1. The soundproofing is extremely poor — we could clearly hear everything happening in the kitchen, in the neighboring room, and even out in the courtyard.
    2. The staff didn’t ask our neighbours to keep quiet at night, and in fact, they themselves often chat and play music quite loudly. Because of this, we were woken up multiple times almost every night.
    3. As the hotel is still just starting out, some rules were changing on the fly. For example, whether the fridge in the kitchen could be used by guests and, if so, by whom. Don’t be surprised if the fridge is suddenly off-limits or if your food is taken out and left outside.
    4. It’s also inconvenient that the hotel provides only one key per room (we had two rooms).
    5. Lastly, it would be great if the door locks worked properly and if there was a shower curtain in the bathroom.
