Apartment Elizabeth in Old Tbilisi Overview
I was strolling along the cobblestone streets of Tbilisi when I discovered this gem tucked into a quiet corner of the Old Town, right next to the Sioni Church—yes, that medieval church with its stone altar that smells faintly of incense. The apartment is called Apartment Elizabeth, and honestly, it’s a name that fits the vibe so perfectly; the place feels like a living postcard, but with real comfort.
The first thing that struck me was the check‑in process—no long queues, no endless paperwork. The host was a friendly Georgian woman who greeted me with a warm smile and handed over a few keys in a small, handwritten card that said, “Welcome to your home away from home.” She mentioned the parking situation: there’s a tiny, somewhat cramped street parking lot just a block away, but if you’re staying late, you can park in the municipal lot near the Rustaveli metro station, which is a 5‑minute walk. I was relieved to find a free spot for the first night, and the street parking was a breeze after the early evening rush.
The apartment itself is a cozy two‑bedroom layout with an open‑plan kitchen that smells like fresh herbs and roasted chestnuts, a scent that suddenly transports you to the bustling markets of Tbilisi. The living room is spacious, with a couch that feels like a hug and a large window that frames the ancient city walls. The view of the old stone arches is perfect for those early‑morning coffee sessions—though be prepared for the distant hum of traffic that starts to creep in after 10 pm. I found that the building’s walls are pretty soundproof, so I could sleep through the night without being woken by the city’s nightly chatter.
One thing that really sets this place apart is the attention to details that matter to travelers. The linens are crisp, the towels are thick, and there’s a small library of local guides in the corner that includes a handwritten list of my favorite spots: a hidden café on Samgori Street where you can try khachapuri, the best gelato at the corner of Vake and Suri, and a small art gallery in the basement of the building that’s open on weekends. I even found a note on the fridge that said, “If you’re craving something sweet, head to the bakery on Kharadze Street—don’t miss the fresh baklava.” It feels like the host has actually lived there and knows the town’s pulse.
The noise level is surprisingly low for a city that never sleeps. I was able to enjoy a quiet evening in the apartment, sipping homemade wine, while the street outside had a soft, almost lullaby‑like murmur of people chatting and the occasional call of a vendor. The apartment’s balcony is a small oasis, where I could hear the faint scent of jasmine from the garden across the street. If you’re a night owl, the quiet hours after 11 pm are perfect for a nap, but if you’re someone who loves the city’s nightlife, you can still hear the energetic hum of Tbilisi’s evening life without it being overwhelming.
Parking might be a bit of a hassle during the peak summer season, but the host has a list of alternative spots if you need it, and the overall experience is seamless. The only downside I noticed was that the Wi‑Fi signal can be spotty during the day, which is a minor inconvenience if you’re working remotely. But for a weekend getaway or a short stay, it’s a small price to pay for the authenticity and charm of staying right where the history lives.
In short, Apartment Elizabeth feels less like a hotel and more like a heartfelt invitation to live like a local, with all the practicalities covered and a touch of Georgian hospitality that makes it unforgettable. If you’re planning a trip to Tbilisi, this place is a must‑visit, especially if you want to soak in the old‑town atmosphere without sacrificing comfort. Enjoy it, and you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden treasure that’s been waiting for you all along.
Tbilisi’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Georgian tradition and modern comfort, with many featuring wine tour services and authentic Caucasian hospitality.

What could be improved: nothingExceptional – Jamie from United Kingdom – January 7, 2023 (10/10)
Apartment's like photos with some rather grand white furniture in the room with the windows.
Kitchen is decent, and they brought a few new bits while I was there.
Hosts very friendly. There were a few small maintenance issues, but they were apologetic and got them fixed quickly.
I was visiting in winter, but the street was very quiet.
Location is right in the old town, so lots an easy walk away.
What could be improved: All good. Just be aware that the rear bedroom just has a curtain between it and the kitchen and doesn't have windows. The front room is like mix bedroom and living room. The bathroom's nothing special. But if you know what to expect, I'd definitely recommend it.
