Apart-Hotel David Overview
I finally landed in Tbilisi after a long flight, and my first stop was Apart‑Hotel David. The address—7/7 Mikheili Tsinamdzghvrishvili St in Chugureti—felt like a secret doorway into the city’s everyday rhythm. When I walked up the narrow stairs, the front desk was already humming with the afternoon rush of locals. The staff were friendly, but honestly, they asked for a ton of ID paperwork that made me think you actually have to prove you’re not a tourist from the other side of the world. Still, they managed to get me into my room by 3 p.m., which was a relief after a cramped flight. Parking is a bit of a hassle; there’s no free spot on the street, so you’ll have to hit a paid lot a block away, but the price is reasonable and you get a free shuttle to the hotel. The noise level is decent for a city that never really sleeps—early in the morning, the traffic hum and the distant chatter from the market are a background soundtrack, but by 10 p.m. the street quiets down, and you can actually hear your own thoughts.
The room itself is a small but surprisingly clean oasis. The bed is big enough for two adults and the mattress feels like a cloud after a good night’s sleep. The bathroom’s shower has a great water pressure that washes away the last bits of jet lag. I love the little touches: a hand‑made rug that smells faintly of cedar, a small wooden table that looks like it belongs in a folk museum, and a fridge that’s stocked with bottled water and a few teas. The TV is decent, but if you’re a real local, you’ll know the best is to step outside and watch the world pass by. The view from the window is a slice of the Chugureti neighborhood—there’s a small bakery with fresh bread that gives off a warm, inviting aroma, and a tiny park where kids play soccer. The Wi‑Fi is fast, and the breakfast is a decent mix of Georgian pastries and French croissants—just not a Michelin‑star experience but enough to keep you from craving something else. The only thing that slid under my radar was the noise from the street at night; the building is close to a thoroughfare, so you can hear the buzz of traffic and the occasional siren, but it’s not a deal‑breaker.
If you’re wondering whether it’s worth the 4‑star rating and the 8.3 score, honestly, the hotel does a solid job of balancing comfort and convenience. The staff’s friendly demeanor and the personal touches in the rooms make it feel less like a chain and more like a local’s home. You’ll find that the price per night is reasonable for a city that can be pricey, especially if you’re staying during the peak tourist season from May to September. The only critique I have is that the parking arrangement could be better advertised; the signboard is a bit hard to read for foreigners. But for the most part, it’s a good base for exploring Tbilisi—just a short walk to the eclectic Tbilisi Coffee House, the historic Rustaveli Avenue, and the lush botanical gardens. In short, if you’re looking for a decent place that feels like part of the city, Apart‑Hotel David is a solid choice. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to soak in the local vibe without breaking the bank.
