The Telegraph Hotel – The Leading Hotels of the World Overview

I landed in Tbilisi just after midnight, and the first thing I saw was the grand silhouette of the Telegraph Hotel on Shota Rustaveli Avenue. The building itself feels like a relic from the Soviet era, but the lobby is surprisingly airy and clean, with a mix of old Soviet posters and modern art. Honestly, the staff greet you with a smile that feels like a warm handshake – you know what, it’s one of those first impressions that sticks. I had to wait a few minutes because the front desk was already swamped with tourists, but the concierge was quick to point me toward the elevators and gave me a map of the city with a hand‑written note about the best local cafés.

The room was a solid 30 square metres of comfort. I slipped into the bed and found the sheets to be as soft as a cloud – no complaints there. The balcony is a real treat: a small private terrace that opens onto the city, and from there you can see Mtatsminda Park’s neon lights at night. The view is a mix of the old town’s stone facades and the modern glass towers – a visual postcard that makes you forget the city’s traffic. The bathroom is sleek, with a deep soaking tub that smells faintly of eucalyptus (they seem to have a few essential oils in the bathroom). Wi‑Fi is fast, and the TV is a decent size for a 5‑star hotel, though the channel selection is a bit bland when you’re in a foreign country. The only thing that made me pause was the slightly cold shower head – a minor quirk, but worth mentioning for those who love a hot shower.

The hotel’s location is the real gem. Shota Rustaveli Avenue is a bustling artery that feels like the main artery of the city, but the hotel is tucked just a stone’s throw from the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, Freedom Square, and the

Best hotels in Tbilisi range from charming boutique properties in the historic Old Town to elegant hillside hotels with stunning views of the Mtkvari River and Narikala Fortress.

Reviews of The Telegraph Hotel – The Leading Hotels of the World

  • Exceptional – Kakamyrat from Turkmenistan – August 28, 2025 (10/10)

    Atmosphere

    What could be improved: Breakfast

  • Wonderful – Tamara from United Arab Emirates – August 12, 2025 (9/10)

    Location . New hotel . Modern . Stylish .

What could be improved: In 4 days I went to the Grand cafe 3 times — and every time was a little drama caused by hostess …
First night: “no tables,” then offered the smoking terrace… in 34C ..
Second attempt — another dinner. The restaurant was empty, yet without a reservation, the hostess greeted me as if I’d wandered into her living room uninvited, then “generously” found me the only table she could arrange. At 6 p.m.

Lots of attitude but only in grand cafe- and only hostess . The waiters were great , so is the food and chef . And rest of the hotel staff .

  • Fabulous front office staff. A credit to Georgia. – Jamie from Monaco – August 1, 2025 (10/10)

The Staff! So well trained. So helpful.

What could be improved: The pillows. Too high. No adequate selections for those with neck problems

  • Exceptional – Malika from Uzbekistan – July 30, 2025 (10/10)

Excellent location, a new hotel with its own unique atmosphere, stylish and clean rooms, a great breakfast, and a nice bar. I would especially like to highlight the front desk team and Elene, who was incredibly helpful throughout our stay, as well as the overall concierge service staff.

What could be improved: The only unpleasant experience we had was during breakfast due to the staff. We had to repeat our drink orders several times, and the waiting time was very long. When we asked for tea, we were simply pointed to where we could get it ourselves. Overall, it felt as though the staff were doing us a favor by serving us.
I attribute these shortcomings to the fact that the hotel is still new, and I hope they will take steps to improve the service in the restaurant as well in the future

  • Very Good – Timur from Latvia – July 14, 2025 (8/10)

Exceptional breakfast, very good location, good bed and pillows, rooms with terrace are with very good view

What could be improved: Service in the hotel is lower than expected. Rated as very high quality and member of LHW, you expect something exceptional that is actually not. Personnel of the hotel is always smiling and asks about your stay, but are very unhelpful in case of any request. Hotel is just opened and is raw in service. Opening the door to terrace will switch the air-conditioner off, and is not being turned back on when you close the door. Room service always taking your room card from the slot, and not returning back. Was really excited when on the breakfast after asking waiter to bring the glass of water (was actually expecting this to happen without a reminder), I was notified where to take a bottle of water from. Salt mills are inoperable on every table, waiters are aware but do nothing, after my notification waiter said he knows about it but bring us the other one that was also not working. In the lobby bar I was notified by a manager that it is not allowed to bring the bottle of mineral water from the outside (really, guys, I am staying in this hotel!!!), but after that he said that he grants his expcemtion to us. Very raw service, probably because the hotel is brand new and staff not yet properly trained.
NO COLD WATER FRON THE TAPS AND SHOWER. Coldest water temperature is just that warm, so you can take shower.
Glass walls to toilet and shower will not leave your spouse a chance to sleep when you go to shower.
Generally the hotel is much better than many others in Tbilisi, but obviously not exceptional. Cost to quality ratio is low…
