Taberne Boutique Hotel Tbilisi Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Taberne Boutique Hotel Tbilisi on Vakhtang Orbeliani Street, you immediately get that “hidden gem” feeling. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention — which honestly makes it feel more special. It’s tucked into the Mtatsminda district in a way that feels authentically Tbilisi rather than touristy, and the four-star rating really shows in the thoughtful details from the moment you step inside.

Location & Neighborhood

The location is genuinely fantastic — I mean, couples rate it 9.6 for good reason. You’re in the heart of the city but on a quieter street that actually lets you sleep at night. Mtatsminda is one of those neighborhoods where you can wander around and stumble onto little cafes and local spots that feel like discoveries. The main attractions are all walkable, but you’re not dealing with the constant noise and crowds that come with being right on Rustaveli Avenue. It’s that sweet spot where you feel connected to the city without being overwhelmed by it.

The Room Experience

The room design strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and Georgian character. You know what I appreciated? The attention to lighting — there are actually enough outlets where you need them, and the bedside lighting is warm rather than harsh. The bathrooms are well-designed with good water pressure (trust me, this matters after a day of exploring). The windows are properly soundproofed, which is crucial given how lively Tbilisi can get, especially on weekends.

Breakfast & Dining

The buffet breakfast is solid — not groundbreaking, but definitely satisfying with a good mix of Georgian and international options. What I liked was that they include some local specialties alongside the standard fare, so you can ease into Georgian cuisine if you’re not ready to dive in completely. The dining area has this relaxed atmosphere where you can actually take your time rather than feeling rushed. The coffee is properly strong, which honestly saved my mornings more than once. The restaurant staff are attentive without hovering.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience without being overly formal about it. The combination of that excellent location score and the boutique feel means you get the best of both worlds — you’re perfectly positioned to explore the city, but you’re staying somewhere that feels personal rather than corporate. For couples especially, there’s something about the intimate scale and thoughtful touches that just works. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually want to spend time in your accommodations rather than just using it as a place to crash.

Tbilisi is a beautiful city with so much to see and experience. I loved this property, as a female solo traveler, I felt safe, especially in the neighborhood, even late at night. One thing to mention is that there are many friendly and approachable homeless cats and dogs (including kittens and puppies) in Tbilisi. As an animal lover, I enjoyed being around them. If you can, please bring some dog or cat food to feed them, as they are homeless and hungry. You can buy it at any grocery store.

My room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. Definitely check out the sulfur bath, you’ll thank me later! I absolutely loved the city and will definitely be going back.
