You know what struck me first about Sota Metekhi Hotel? The way it sits right there overlooking the Mtkvari River – I mean, you walk out and there’s this gorgeous view of the old town that honestly never gets old. I’ve stayed in a lot of places in Tbilisi, and this spot just has something special about it. The building itself has this solid, confident feel to it, not trying too hard to be trendy but clearly well-maintained.

The rooms are actually really thoughtfully laid out – and I say this as someone who’s dealt with plenty of cramped European hotel rooms where you can barely open your suitcase. Here, there’s proper space to spread out, and the windows are generous enough that you get natural light most of the day. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being in the heart of things. You’d think with all the foot traffic around Metekhi Church and the cable car nearby, it would be chaotic, but the soundproofing is solid. The staff clearly knows their stuff too – they’re not just reciting scripts, they actually seem to know the neighborhood and can point you toward the good khachapuri places that tourists haven’t discovered yet.

Honestly, the 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience the place firsthand. It’s not flashy or over-the-top luxury, but everything works properly (which, let’s be real, isn’t always a given). The shower pressure is excellent, the Wi-Fi actually reaches every corner of the room, and check-in was refreshingly smooth. What really sold me though was stepping out in the morning and realizing how perfectly positioned you are – you can walk to the sulfur baths in about ten minutes, the Bridge of Peace is right there for evening strolls, and you’re close enough to Shardeni Street that you can stumble back after trying too many Georgian wines without needing a taxi. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying somewhere that locals respect too – I noticed Georgian business travelers choosing this place, which usually means they’re doing something right beyond just catering to tourists with guidebooks.

  The location is near Europe Square though its quite an uphill walk.
  We love the rooftop pool and sauna. Great for repaxing after a busy day.
  Not that kuch options for breakfast but we love there crepes and mini pancakes, along with the chicken dish and buckwheat.
