Solo Room Apartment Overview

I was staying in Tbilisi for a brief weekend, and Solo Room Apartment turned out to be the kind of place that feels like it was built just for people who crave authenticity over polish. The building itself is a modest, two‑story apartment block on Giorgi Leonidze Street – not in the fancy Old Town area, but close enough that you can walk to the cobblestone lanes of the historic district in under ten minutes. The address, 20/8 Giorgi Leonidze, is right next to the small bakery that sells khachapuri fresh every morning, so the scent of yeasty bread and melty cheese wafts in from the street. You’ll find the apartment door marked with a simple brass plate; a quick knock and the host, a friendly Georgian woman named Nino, greets you in a mix of Georgian and English, her laugh filling the narrow hallway. She’s honest about the apartment’s quirks – the heating is an old radiator that needs a little coaxing, but the apartment’s windows open onto a quiet corner that frames the city’s skyline like a postcard. The check‑in was straightforward, no long queues, just a quick swipe of your card and a welcome packet that lists the nearest metro stop, a handful of cafés, and the best spots for a late‑night gelato.

The room itself is a surprisingly spacious single apartment, with a kitchenette that has a small fridge, a microwave, and a coffee machine that works like a charm. I spent a lot of time at the tiny balcony, sipping tea while watching the street below. The noise level is moderate; you can hear the occasional honk from the bus lane on the next block, but it never feels overwhelmingly loud. The curtains are heavy, so if you’re a light sleeper, you’ll get a decent night’s rest. The bed is a queen-sized platform with a mattress that holds up well, and the linens feel like a soft embrace – not too crisp, not too fluffy – just the kind of comfort you get in a place that’s truly lived in. I found the apartment’s Wi‑Fi reliable for streaming a documentary on Georgian history, and the local cable channels included a few Georgian stations that kept me in touch with the city’s vibe. The small but practical bathroom has a shower with a decent water pressure; the tiles are slightly chipped, but that just adds character. I appreciated the little touches, like a set of local maps on the wall and a small basket of fresh fruit that Nino had left for me – a sign that she really cares about her guests.

What makes Solo Room Apartment stand out is the sense that you’re not just staying in a hotel, but living in a slice of everyday Tbilisi. The street is lined with a mix of old Soviet-era buildings and newer, quirky cafés. I love that you can walk a few minutes to the Metekhi Bridge and feel the history in the stone, or hop on the funicular at Mtatsminda Park and catch a sunset over the city. Parking is a bit of a challenge – there’s a small municipal lot a block away that costs a few lari per day, but the street parking is usually free for short stops. If you’re traveling during the high season, I’d suggest arriving early in the morning to snag a spot. The apartment’s location also means you’re close to a handful of public transport options. The nearest metro station, Freedom Square, is just a three‑minute walk and drops you right into the heart of the old town. On evenings, the street becomes a mosaic of neon signs and the distant hum of traffic, but the apartment itself remains a calm oasis where you can unwind in a quiet, well‑lit lounge area.

Honestly, the best part was that I didn’t feel like I was in a tourist trap. The locals around Giorgi Leonidze Street are friendly and often stop to chat with me about their favorite cafés or the best time to visit the sulfur baths. The host, Nino, even gave me a tip to check out a small art gallery in the adjacent building – it was a hidden gem. The only critique I can offer is that the apartment’s kitchen is a bit cramped for someone used to a larger space, but that’s a minor quibble in a place that’s otherwise a delightful, honest slice of Tbilisi life. For anyone looking to stay in a real, lived‑in part of the city, Solo Room Apartment is the kind of spot that will make you feel at home long after you’ve checked out.

Many travelers prefer to book apartments in Tbilisi through trusted local agencies that provide insider knowledge about the best neighborhoods for experiencing the city’s wine culture and architectural heritage.

  • Exceptional – Egorov from United Arab Emirates – August 1, 2025 (10/10)

The convenient location, very peaceful place

What could be improved: Twice water supply has been interrupted, but it is not the problem of the property. The owner has informed us about this issue in advance.

  • Perfect accommodation in the center – Katerina from Czech Republic – May 2, 2025 (10/10)

Everything was perfect, wifi worked properly, everything was clean. I visited Tbilisi when it was cold and raining but at the appartment the heating worked very well.
For me it was the best accommodation in Georgia.

  • Felt like a local 🍀 – Kristina from United Kingdom – July 31, 2024 (10/10)

Very convenient location, not too far from the centre, but far away enough to have a restful undisturbed sleep. The studio was spacious and nicely decorated with an en-suite bathroom and kitchenette. Basic appliances included for a longer stay, i.e. fridge, washer, kettle. Loved the character of the building and the comms with the owner made the whole stay comfortable too.

What could be improved: The bed was a bit soft for my liking, would suggest a new mattress.
