Soleil Overview
I was actually staying at Soleil for a weekend in Tbilisi, and let me tell you, it’s the kind of place that feels like a secret you get to keep. From the moment I stepped out of the 3 Lado Meskhishvili Turn building, the scent of freshly brewed tea and the hum of the city already wrapped around me. The lobby was cozy—think warm, low lighting and a few local artists’ canvases that feel more like conversation starters than decorative pieces. I mean, you could almost hear the chatter of passersby from the street, yet it’s quiet enough that you can actually hear your own thoughts. The reception desk was staffed by a young woman who greeted me with a wide smile and, honestly, a quick lesson in Georgian etiquette—“Gamarjoba” and a polite nod. She handed me a keycard and a small map that, interestingly, highlighted the nearby Fani Street coffee shop, a local favorite for its strong espresso and buttery pastries.
When I opened my room, the view was already a gentle surprise. A small balcony faced a narrow alley with a row of old pomegranates, and from there you could see the rusted outline of Mtatsminda Park in the distance. The room itself was clean and well-appointed, but it was the little details that made it feel like a home away from home. The bedding was a soft, almost plush texture that made the bed feel like a cloud—yes, I know that sounds a bit cliche, but it was accurate. The bathroom was modern with a rain shower; the water pressure was great, and there was a small, refillable bottle of citrus-scented soap that actually smelled like fresh oranges rather than that generic “clean” detergent. I found myself humming a local folk tune as I relaxed in the tub, the steam mingling with the faint scent of the city’s evening rush.
Parking was a breeze, thanks to the small underground lot that the hotel offers. I parked my car in the first row—no need to wait for a spot, which is a huge relief when you’re traveling with luggage. The noise level in the building was surprisingly low, except for the occasional burst of laughter from the nearby courtyard where a group of students were practicing their Georgian poetry. I took a short walk to the nearby Rustaveli Avenue, and the street was alive with vendors selling khachapuri and fresh fruit; the sound of the street filled the air with a pleasant, almost nostalgic rhythm. For dinner, I went to the hotel’s on-site restaurant, which served a surprisingly good khinkali that was far from your typical hotel fare. The staff was friendly and offered a small complimentary bottle of local wine for the evening—totally unexpected but deeply appreciated.
Honestly, if you’re planning a trip to Tbilisi, Soleil is a solid choice. The staff feels like locals who genuinely want you to have a good time, and the location—just a short walk from the bustling Old Town—offers the best of both worlds: you’re close enough to the city to enjoy the vibrant nightlife and markets, but far enough to get a restful night’s sleep. The only slight downside I noticed was that the check‑in line could get a bit long during peak season, but the staff was efficient and made everyone feel at ease. Overall, Soleil gave me the feel of a home that’s been lovingly curated by someone who knows the city’s pulse. If you’re looking for a place that’s more than just a place to sleep, this is where you’ll find it.
