SKY Hotel Old Tbilisi Overview

I checked in at SKY Hotel Old Tbilisi as the sun was dipping behind the old stone walls, and honestly, the lobby was a neat blend of modern art and traditional Georgian motifs—there’s a small sculpture of a “tbilisk” stone that feels like a nod to the city’s quirky heritage. The staff were super friendly, and the check‑in was quick; they even slipped me into a room with a window overlooking the bustling Tbilisi market, where vendors shouted, “Fresh apricots, fresh apricots!” – the kind of sound that instantly pulls you into the local rhythm. I remember grabbing a cup of black coffee at the hotel’s tiny café, and the barista, with a grin, asked if I’d tried the local “khachapuri” before; I said no, and she treated me to a small plate that practically melted in my mouth.

The room itself was surprisingly spacious for a 4‑star, with a minimalist design that still felt warm. The bed’s crisp linens made it feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud, though the ceiling fan’s whir was a gentle reminder that the old building’s ventilation system is bit…well, vintage. I could hear the distant clatter of the city’s tram at night, which, to my surprise, was not as intrusive as I feared; the walls are surprisingly soundproof. The balcony had a perfect view of the old town’s cobblestones, and I could see the silhouette of the Metekhi Church in the distance. Parking was a bit of a hunt – you have to beat the locals to the spot in the corner lot, but the staff gave me a free parking voucher that saved me a few minutes of chaos. I also found a small, neat parking space right outside the hotel’s main entrance – that’s a win for early‑morning travelers.

Breakfast at the hotel is a mixed bag; the pastries were flaky and buttery, but the fruit selection was a bit more seasonal than I’d hoped. I ended up stepping out to the nearby Tbilisi Bakery on Gorgasali Street – their “khachapuri” is a must‑try, and the owner, a jovial old man with a moustache, offered me a cup of tea that smelled like cumin and mint. Speaking of streets, the hotel is just a stone’s throw from the famous Rustaveli Avenue, where you can catch a metro ride to the Presidential Palace, but if you’re a foodie, stray off the main road to the small alley behind the hotel where the “Shavi Lomi” café serves the best grilled cheese in town. The noise level is a bit higher during the summer months, especially on the 4th floor, but I managed to get a good night’s sleep thanks to the blackout curtains. If you’re traveling during the peak of the tourist season, it’s best to arrive early – the lobby tends to get busy, and you’ll have to wait a bit for a room. The staff is patient, and they always have a friendly smile ready to go.

All in all, SKY Hotel Old Tbilisi is a solid pick if you want to stay in the heart of the city without paying a fortune. The rooms

Hotels near me in Tbilisi offer convenient access to the ancient center, where guests can easily walk to sulfur baths, Peace Bridge, and traditional wine cellars.

  • Wonderful – Changwoo from Philippines – August 25, 2025 (9/10)

Kind employees specially housekeeping lady and African guy and comfortable room. Size of my room is also quite big for 1 person

What could be improved: I stayed in room number 3. I recommend guests to close door of toilet in the room. When many guests use toilet, bad smell comes up from the sink. The housekeeper poured liquid to remove the smell, but it didn't work.

  • Wonderful – Lescooldry from Kazakhstan – August 31, 2025 (9/10)

Marvelous view from the rooftop. Very kind staff, and they're always ready to help or provide anything you need as fast as possible. Very clean rooms – cleaning on a top level. And if you have a car, there are a few parking spots for usage. And special thanks to the guys at reception – you're the best. I can totally recommend you to choose this place, the price isn't high and it's better to see the rooms and choose one which fits best for you.

Oh, also, almost forgot – there is a center of entertainment and old town and castles and everything just in 10-15 minutes by walk. Easy access.

What could be improved: The window in our room was blocked by some wall, which is too close, and that's why we had a problem with ventilation by fresh air inside the room. That's why the air conditioner was working most of the time, and the direction of the flow isn't controllable – that's a bit inconvenient.
