Saburtalo Apt Overview
I landed in Tbilisi in the late afternoon, the kind of late that makes the city feel a little too quiet for its usual bustling vibe. The first thing I noticed was the smell of fresh coffee drifting from the bakery on Otar Chiladze Street, right next to the apartment. You know what, the street itself is a sleepy, almost residential slice of the city—there are these old Soviet-era buildings with peeling paint, but a few local cafés spill out onto the sidewalk, and you can hear the chatter of people ordering khachapuri. The address, 166‑6 Otar Chiladze St 2,5, is tucked just off the main thoroughfare, so I could walk to the nearest metro station within ten minutes. Parking is a bit of a hunt; I had to pull into a small, narrow lane that turns into a driveway and then backward into a space that’s barely wide enough for a car. It’s not a nightmare, but it sets a realistic tone for what you’re about to experience here.
The check‑in was swift—no long lines, just a friendly key‑card exchange with a woman who seemed to know everyone in the building. I mean, she asked if I was staying for the festival season or a quiet getaway, and she suggested a few hidden spots for lunch that aren’t on the usual tourist map. The apartment itself is a compact two‑room unit that feels like a home rather than a hotel. The living area has a small sofa that folds into a bed, and the kitchen is stocked with the basics—coffee, tea, a kettle, and a few sachets of local spices. I fell in love with the texture of the tiles; they’re uneven, which gives the place a lived‑in charm. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, with a mattress that had a bit of give, and the linens were crisp. I did notice that the windows open onto a street that can get noisy during rush hour, but the building’s walls are thick enough that you can actually hear the distant hum of traffic without the full roar.
In terms of amenities, the Wi‑Fi is decent, though it can glitch a bit during peak hours—so if you’re into streaming in the middle of the night, you might want to keep an eye on the signal. The bathroom has a shower with a solid water pressure, and I appreciated the small touch of local bath soap that smells like citrus and mint. I tried the breakfast menu the next morning; the place offers a simple spread of fresh bread, cheese, and a selection of local jams that are just sweet enough. I’ll admit, the coffee wasn’t the best I’ve had in Georgia, but you can always grab a cup at the café across the street for a better brew.
What really sticks with me about this place is the sense of community. The building’s communal lounge is filled with a few residents, many of whom are students or young professionals. I had a friendly chat with a couple of them about the best spots for a sunset stroll—the old botanical garden on Vake Avenue, or the little park by the river that’s only a ten‑minute walk away. The noise levels are generally low, especially after 10 pm, making it easier to catch a good night’s sleep. If you’re traveling during the busy festival season, expect the street to be lively, but by the time you’re in the apartment, again. In short, Saburtalo Apt isn’t flashy; it’s a quiet, reliable, and genuinely welcoming spot that feels like a second home in the heart of Tbilisi.

Exceptional – Ирина from Russia – September 1, 2025 (10/10)
– Natalia from Russia – August 7, 2025 (10/10)
Exceptional – Yuliya from Belarus – July 16, 2025 (10/10)
