Route Hotel Overview
I walked up the side of Rustavi Highway at dusk and the Route Hotel sits on a quiet, slightly elevated spot that gives you a real, almost unfiltered view of the city lights. The front desk is a single, tidy room with a friendly receptionist who greets you in both Georgian and English—she already knows you’re from a small city elsewhere, so she throws in a quick “I mean, you’re going to love the local coffee here.” Check‑in is almost instant after you’ve passed the security check, no long queues, just a quick card swipe and a small keycard that’s surprisingly lightweight. The lobby’s décor is a nod to mid‑century modern, but it’s the smell of fresh coffee and the faint whiff of soap from the gym that keep you grounded in the moment. Parking is on the street, and there’s a small, secure lot a block away that’s free for the first 30 minutes—perfect if you’re catching a train or heading to the metro.
The rooms are a bit more understated than you might expect from a four‑star place, but that’s where the charm is. The bed is a generous, queen‑size thing with high‑quality linens that feel like a hug. The en‑suite bathroom has a deep, soaking tub with a view of the city skyline—great for a late‑night soak after a day of exploring. The room’s window faces a small courtyard with potted plants; the night air is cool, and you can hear the distant hum of traffic from Rustavi Highway and the occasional chime from a nearby church. On a quiet evening, the only sounds are the soft rustle of the curtain and the distant echo of a taxi. The noise level is actually surprisingly low for a city hotel, probably because the building is a bit older and the windows are thick.
If you’re looking to stroll, the hotel’s location is a sweet spot. A short walk takes you up to Rustaveli Avenue, where you’ll find the iconic Tbilisi TV Tower and the bustling market stalls of Metekhi Street. The hotel’s own little courtyard has a small seating area where locals gather for tea—there’s a sense of community here that you don’t see in most chain hotels. For a quick bite, the on‑site restaurant serves Georgian dishes, but honestly, the best place to grab a coffee and a khachapuri is the tiny café on the corner of Rustavi Highway and Kote Abashidze Street; the owner is a friendly old Georgian who knows your name after a few visits. Lastly, the check‑out process is breezy, and the staff even offers to drop off your luggage at the train station if you’re heading out early in the morning. All in all, the Route Hotel feels like a quiet, reliable base from which to discover the real, unfiltered Tbilisi—no over‑the‑top fluff, just genuine warmth and a few insider tips that turn a stay into something memorable.

Everything nice and new and modern. Nice fluffy towels and super comfy beds. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Super restaurant on site with yummy Georgian food and wine. Only thing is there's no balcony, so you must go outside to smoke.
