peace old avlabari Overview

I first stumbled into the hotel when I was wandering down Tbilisi‘s cobblestone lanes, leaning against the old orange tree in the courtyard of the historic Old Town. It felt like stepping back in time but with a twist – the building’s façade was a patched-up mosaic of pastel plaster, and the lobby welcomed me with a low hum that was a mix of chatter, the clink of ceramic mugs, and the distant rumble of a tram. Honestly, that first moment made me feel like I’d just walked out of a postcard, only with a real, breathing city behind me.

The hotel itself, known locally as Peace Old Avlabari, is tucked between the narrow alleys that hug the ancient city walls. You can hear the faint echo of prayers from Sioni Cathedral across the street and the creaking of stone steps that lead up to the old fortress. The check‑in experience is surprisingly swift – they’re not a typical “check-in at 3 pm” place. The desk staff, a young Georgian woman named Liza, greeted me with a warm smile, slipped me a key card, and handed a map that didn’t just have the usual tourist spots but also marked the little café where the best khachapuri can be found – the one that smells like fresh cheese and a hint of rosemary. She mentioned that the quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am, which is perfect if you want to catch the lull of the city without the usual nighttime buzz.

Rooms are a blend of modern and rustic. The bed is a surprisingly comfy hybrid of memory foam and a hand‑stitched quilt, and the windows look out onto a street where street‑car horns echo with the rhythm of a live jazz band that plays every evening on the corner of Mikheil Tamar Street. I couldn’t help but notice the smell of fresh Georgian coffee drifting from the tiny kitchen, and the walls were lined with local art – a mix of traditional iconography and contemporary abstract pieces that might make you pause for a moment. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious, with a deep soaking tub that has a view of the courtyard, and a large mirror that reflects the morning light. If you’re a traveler who likes to start the day early, there’s a small balcony that’s a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of tea while watching the sunrise over the city.

Parking is a bit of a hassle. There’s a small paid lot behind the building, but it’s only a few minutes’ walk to the metro station on Rustaveli Avenue. With a city that’s as narrow as it is bustling, parking can be tight, especially during the peak tourist season in July. I found a spot on the side of the building’s back alley, which was a little dusty but perfectly fine for a short stop. Noise levels are generally moderate; the night sounds are a mix of distant traffic and the occasional shout from a passing taxi, but the hotel’s thick walls and double‑pane windows keep the interior relatively quiet. The only time you might hear the clatter of a tram too close to your window is when you’re in the room that’s right next to the main street, but that also gives you a live soundtrack to the city’s rhythm.

What I loved most about this place was the genuine hospitality. The staff are locals who genuinely care about the experience of their guests. They recommended the best spots for a late‑night snack – a small kebab shop on the corner of Avlabari Street that’s open until dawn. They also mentioned that the best time to visit the nearby Natakhtari bridge is early in the morning, before the crowds and the traffic. There were some minor critiques – the Wi‑Fi speed was a tad slow, and the room’s curtains were a bit thin, but honestly, those are the small things that make a place a little more “real.” The overall vibe is one of warm, understated comfort. It’s a place where you can feel like you’re part of the city’s pulse, yet still have a quiet corner to call your own. If you’re looking for a place that feels less like a hotel and more like a home‑away‑from‑home, this is the spot. The rating of 9 speaks for itself, but the real proof is in the way the city’s colors, sounds, and aromas seep into your stay, leaving you with a memory that feels just as authentic as the streets of Tbilisi itself.

Reviews of peace old avlabari

  • Very good place for groups of people or families. Comfortable, new, near the old city. – Daniil from United Arab Emirates – August 4, 2024 (8/10)

Property was nice and clean, rooms were comfortable and perfect for groups of people. There’s everything you might need, kitchen appliances, bathroom stuff, water etc. Location is not far from old town.

What could be improved: There’s no elevator in the building, so it was a bit difficult to climb on the third floor without it. Same with a small ladder in the property itself. It’s a little hot on the first floor even with a conditioner and the blinds are not blackout, so it’ll be bright in the morning.

  • Exceptional – Dina from Belarus – June 2, 2024 (10/10)

Apartment is very beautiful and cozy. All rooms look exactly like on photos. Well-equipped kitchen, hot water, comfortable beds and sitting chairs. Place is worth to stay for 100%. Owners were very friendly and helpful.

  • Exceptional – Alisher727 from Kazakhstan – January 26, 2024 (10/10)

We had a great experience staying in this spacious yet very cozy apartment! Two levels and the three bedrooms give a lot of privacy for those who travel in a group. The owner sent all the information before our arrival, so we were quite confident on how we would get there. Moreover, the owner was also very prompt on answering to all of our doubts and questions. The payment process was simple enough, the owner agreed for us to pay in USD as we did not have GEL at the time. Well, in short, we would totally recommend to book this place, no regrets.

What could be improved: Those who have issues climbing up narrow stairs need to be careful, the apartment is located in the attic, so one will have to make some effort accessing it.

What could be improved:

– Katerina from Russia – December 3, 2024 (8/10)

Siarhei from Belarus – June 25, 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: –

  • Exceptional – Lizaveta from Belarus – May 22, 2024 (10/10)
