Opera Hotel Tbilisi Overview

I stepped off the metro at the Shota Rustaveli stop and found the Opera Hotel Tbilisi perched on a quiet corner of the avenue, just a few steps from the old city walls. The lobby was surprisingly airy, with a mix of polished wood and plastered ceilings that gave it a kind of understated Georgian elegance. I actually got a free mug of locally roasted coffee right at the reception—honestly, that was a nice touch, and the staff were all smiles, which instantly made the check‑in feel less like a bureaucracy and more like a friendly hello. The room itself was spacious, with a comfortable bed that had a tufted headboard and a view (when you look out the window) of a street buzzing with scooters and street vendors selling everything from honey to fresh bread. I’m not going to say “world‑class” about the amenities, but the bathroom had a deep soaking tub that was a pleasant surprise, and the flat‑screen TV came with a decent selection of local channels.
The hotel sits right on the edge of Mtatsminda, so you’re literally steps away from the historic Metekhi Church and a short walk to Freedom Square. If you’re a foodie, the corner cafés on Baku Street are a must‑visit and they’re just a 2‑minute stroll from the lobby. I found the parking situation a bit of a hassle—there’s no onsite garage, so I had to rely on street parking and a paid lot a block away, but the staff gave me a discount coupon that saved me a few bucks. Noise-wise, the area gets loud after 9 pm with the nightlife spilling out from the old town, but the hotel’s rooms are well insulated, so I could enjoy the city’s hum without it turning into a full‑on rave in my bed. The Wi‑Fi is free, but I found it a bit sluggish when I tried to stream my favorite

  • Good – Kimonas from Greece – November 22, 2024 (7/10)

Clean and nice room, helpful staff. Breakfast offered was a decent effort.

What could be improved: Feels more like an upgraded hostel. Good for budget stays.
No elevator which makes it difficult to manage luggage when clombing the floors.

  • A so-so value for the money – Vasiliy from Cyprus – January 4, 2025 (5/10)

What could be improved: The staff was not willing to help us with our issues; also they skipped the breakfasts. The room was not in the best condition, it probably needs some renovation
