I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Onyx City Center, I wasn’t expecting much despite the five-star rating. You know how some luxury hotels can feel stuffy or try too hard? This place actually gets the balance right. The lobby has this sleek, modern vibe without being cold, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions.

What really impressed me was the attention to detail throughout the property. The rooms are spacious (and I mean actually spacious, not “cozy” which usually means tiny), with these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with natural light. The beds are seriously comfortable – I’m talking sink-right-in, don’t-want-to-get-up comfortable. The bathroom amenities are top-notch too, though honestly, I wish they’d provided more counter space around the sink. Small complaint, but you notice these things when you’re trying to get ready in the morning.

The service here consistently hits that sweet spot where they’re attentive without hovering. Room service was surprisingly quick, and the concierge staff actually knew the area well enough to give solid recommendations beyond the obvious tourist spots. I appreciated that they didn’t just hand me a generic list of nearby restaurants – they asked what I was in the mood for and suggested places based on that. The fitness center stays open 24/7, which was perfect for my weird schedule, and it’s well-equipped without being overwhelming. Parking was straightforward too, which honestly can make or break a city hotel experience. With an 8.6 rating from other guests, it’s clear I’m not the only one who left impressed. The only time things got a bit hectic was during what seemed to be a busy conference weekend, but even then, the staff handled everything smoothly.
