Old Tbilisi N&M Overview

You know what really caught me off guard about Old Tbilisi N&M? It’s one of those places where the name actually tells you everything you need to know – and I mean that in the best possible way. When I first walked up to this 4-star spot, I honestly wasn’t expecting much (the whole “N&M” thing threw me off a bit), but within about ten minutes of being there, I got it. This place has that authentic old-world Georgian charm that so many hotels try to fake, except here it feels completely natural.

The building itself sits right in the heart of historic Tbilisi, and I’m talking proper old town vibes – you can actually hear the church bells from Sioni Cathedral drifting through the windows in the morning, which sounds cheesy but is actually pretty magical when you’re having your coffee. The staff runs the place like they genuinely care about it, not like corporate drones following a manual. During check-in, the guy at reception spent a solid fifteen minutes drawing little maps and circling his favorite wine bars on a tourist map – totally unprompted. The rooms themselves have this interesting mix where they’ve kept some of the traditional architectural details (love the high ceilings and those old wooden window frames) but updated everything that actually matters for comfort. The beds are properly firm, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and honestly, the bathrooms are better than most 5-star places I’ve stayed at in other cities.

What really sets this place apart though – and this might sound random – is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re literally a three-minute walk from those famous sulfur baths, but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups marching past your window at 7 AM. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because I realized I could walk to basically everything I wanted to see, plus there’s this little bakery around the corner that opens at 6 AM and makes these incredible khachapuri that became my daily ritual. The hotel’s got a 9.1 rating, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all – it’s the kind of place where all the small things just work. The elevator’s quiet, the hallways don’t echo, someone clearly thought about the lighting (not too bright, not too dim), and the whole place has this lived-in feel without being worn down. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but after a long day of wandering around Tbilisi’s cobblestone streets, sinking into one of their armchairs in the lobby with a glass of Georgian wine just felt right. If you’re looking for a place that feels connected to the city rather than isolated from it, this is your spot.

Hotel in Tbilisi booking should be done early, especially during harvest season when the city hosts internationally celebrated wine festivals and cultural events.
