Old Tbilisi House Overview
I first spotted the Old Tbilisi House when I was strolling down Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue, a cobblestone lane that feels like a secret alleyway in the middle of the city. The building itself is a two‑storey stone house that looks like it could have been plucked straight out of a postcard from the 1920s. The front door was a warm, honey‑colored wood, and the brass plaque above it simply said “Old Tbilisi House.” I mean, you can almost hear the echo of old Georgian lullabies when you step inside the lobby, with its low ceiling, exposed wooden beams, and the faint scent of fresh bread wafting from the tiny bakery corner.
Check‑in was quick and friendly—no long lines, just a chatty receptionist who pointed me toward the elevator and offered a map that had a handwritten note: “Don’t miss the fountain on Rustaveli.” She also mentioned that the parking on the street is a bit of a game; you’ll have to circle a couple of blocks to find a spot, but there’s a small paid lot right next to the metro station that works for the price of a coffee. The room itself was a sweet blend of old‑world charm and modern comfort: the bed was a king‑size with crisp linens, a small but functional kitchenette, and a window that opened onto the narrow street where you could hear the distant bells of the nearby church. The noise level was pretty good—mostly the gentle hum of traffic, but at night it quieted down to a soothing backdrop of distant chatter and the occasional clink of glasses from a nearby café. Wi‑Fi was spotty, which is a bit of a let‑down, but if you’re more interested in the local vibe than in streaming the latest episode, it doesn’t matter much.
I spent the afternoon wandering around the old town, stopping at the market near Freedom Square for a quick bite of khachapuri and a cup of Georgian coffee. I swear the street vendors there know your name by the time you walk in, and the smell of roasted chestnuts on the corner added to the sensory overload. The next morning, I took a short walk to the National Museum, which was a stone’s throw away, and the museum’s café offered the best lentil soup I’ve had in a long time—so good that I almost forgot my hotel’s slow Wi‑Fi. The staff at the hotel were genuinely friendly, offering a small complimentary bottle of wine when I mentioned it was my first visit to the city. The only real critique? The parking can be a hassle, and the Wi‑Fi is unreliable, but honestly, those are minor details compared to the warm, authentic experience you get here. If you’re looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, tucked in the heart of Tbilisi and surrounded by the city’s living history, the Old Tbilisi House is the spot to check out.

Time Travel to old Tbilisi house – Ani from India – January 2, 2025 (8/10)
Location and Stay
What could be improved: The water heater was not constantly heating. Irregular heating. We were unable to get hot water continuously while using the shower and tap water. The wash basin and kitchen sink had the hot water but not the bathroom's shower.Worthy the money,100% recommended – Xin from Georgia – August 28, 2024 (9/10)
Clean Apartment, quiet place in the city, nice owner
What could be improved: The door of the toilet in the first floor can’t be closed, but I believe it is easy to fix the problemExceptional – Gadi from Israel – August 10, 2025 (10/10)
The apartment is spacious and beautifully designed. It has two bathrooms and two showers, which made our stay very convenient. Everything was clean and well-maintained. There is parking right at the entrance to the house, and the location is close to the city center. The host was very friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful experience and would gladly stay here again!
Exceptional – Andriy from Ukraine – August 23, 2024 (10/10)
It's a great large house. Owners live downstairs and were able to help with all our requests.
What could be improved: A few things were broken: a shower faucet on the second floor, the balcony door's lock.
.Good location, but a cold apartment that has seen better days. – Fergy from Australia – May 3, 2025 (5/10)
Walking distance to transport (Avlabari Metro, bus stop to airport), supermarkets, bakery and old town. Good wifi. Able to leave bags with owner downstairs before check-in. Kind owner who responded quickly when asked about items that were missing in the apartment (saucepan, tea towel, microwave plate, dishwashing liquid). Large fridge/freezer and oven.
What could be improved: Difficult to find (google maps location is not accurate and there are no house numbers). Large hole in the external wall (due to new airconditioner) letting in cold air making it impossible to warm up the lounge/dining room (we stayed when night temperatures were minus 5degreesC). The apartment has seen better days with many things broken and worn out (handle on bedroom door missing, bathroom door handle didn't shut; tv didn't work; drawers in the kichen & bedroom didn't close). Catching a mouse in the kitchen drawer.Wonderful – Ал from Russia – August 24, 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Пульт от кондиционера только один для двух этажей.Wonderful – Iryna from Belarus – July 25, 2024 (9/10)
