Old Alley Apartment Overview

When I first stepped off the tram in Tbilisi, the Old Alley Apartment felt like a secret corner of the city that only locals would know. The address, 3 Lado Meskhishvili Turn, sits tucked between the narrow lanes of the Old Town, just a stone’s throw from the lively Rustaveli Street. I was greeted by a small, handwritten sign that said “Welcome” in both Georgian and English, and a friendly staff member handed me a keycard with a wink—no awkward front desk line, no waiting. The check‑in was quick; the system let me jump straight into the apartment, and the little kitchen was already stocked with a pot, some fresh herbs, and a bag of Georgian coffee beans that smelled like cinnamon and roasted beans. Honestly, that first sip of coffee in the dim light of the living area felt like the beginning of a great story.

The apartment itself is a cozy 4‑star wonder: two bedrooms with generous, plush beds that feel like a hug after a day of exploring. The walls are lined with local art—prints of old Tbilisi facades, a few photographs of the Mtatsminda funicular, and a quirky map of the city’s hidden bars. The living room is spacious enough for a laptop and a small picnic of cheese and wine, while the kitchenette is surprisingly well‑equipped: a compact fridge, a slow‑cook pot, a kettle that boils in a jiffy, and a small espresso machine that makes your morning coffee feel like a café in the city center. The bathroom is a clean, minimalist space with a rain shower that feels like a spa—though the water pressure is a bit uneven, so you might want a fan. Noise-wise, the apartment is pleasantly quiet; the only sounds at night are the occasional murmur of neighbors and the distant hum of the city, but you can still hear a faint lullaby of the old church bells in the distance.

Outside, the streets around Lado Meskhishvili Turn are a mix of old stone and modern hustle. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot, there’s a tiny café on the corner that serves khachapuri and a local tea that tastes like an ancient recipe. A few blocks away, you’ll find the bustling market on Vake Street, where fresh produce, spices, and the aroma of grilled meat fill the air. For parking, the apartment offers a small underground spot for a modest fee—though you’ll have to wait for a spot if you come during the busy summer season. Alternatively, street parking is available but can be tricky for newcomers. If you’re a night owl, the area is lively but the noise level rises after 10 pm; the apartment’s soundproofing holds up, but you might want earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Overall, staying at Old Alley Apartment feels like having a personal guide in the heart of Tbilisi—intimate, authentic, and full of small, delightful surprises.

Tbilisi hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Georgia’s cultural capital, known for its legendary wine culture and unique architectural blend.

The host was very friendly, the suite was located in a quiet place, we were next to the Samba church and had a beautiful view of the church, there was a hypermarket, fruit shop, wine bar, bakery, and cafe next to us, and the temperature of the room was very good, the bathroom was very clean.

What could be improved: The only problem with this suite was the low light

  • Thanks for having me – Irina from Georgia – January 3, 2024 (10/10)

Apartment is very clean, utilities new and running. Heating works fine. Hot water. Additionally there is an air conditioner to warm the space. Plenty of towels, all kitchen facilities, stove, fridge and freezer, microwave, dishes, disposable slippers. I did not feel anything was missing for a comfortable stay. View on the Holy Trinity cathedral of Tbilisi. Old city and river is 10 mins walk. I really enjoyed staying there.

What could be improved: Sometimes the water in the shower changed it's temperature, not critically but a bit strange.
