Oda Laila in Old Tbilisi Overview
Oda Laila in Old Tbilisi is tucked into a quiet corner of the historic quarter, just a stone’s‑throw from the bustling intersection of Ushangi Chkheidze Street and the narrow lanes that wind toward the old city walls. I mean, you could almost feel the pulse of the city from the balcony—an intimate mix of street vendors shouting for their morning crowd, the clatter of a train on the Tbil Metro, and the faint of freshly brewed Georgian coffee drifting from a nearby café. The rooms themselves are a blend of old‑ charm and modern comfort: a soft, wornto‑the‑bone sofa that folds into a bed, a tiny kitchenette with a kettle that’s practically a relic, and a bathroom that feels like a spa but without the spa‑price tag. Honestly, stepping into the lobby feels like walking into a friend’s living room that’s been refurbished with love.
The check‑in experience is surprisingly smooth—staff greet you with a warm smile, a quick scan of your passport, and a short tour of the facilities. I found the process a bit rushed during the peak tourist season, but the staff were friendly enough to offer a free bottle of water for the wait. Parking is a bit of a challenge; there’s a small municipal lot a block away, but it fills up quickly, especially in the summer. If you’re driving, I’d recommend leaving your car in a nearby hotel or using a rideshare app—Tbilisi’s streets can be a maze for someone not used to the narrow lanes and the occasional sudden detour. Noise-wise, the old quarter is lively by day, but you’ll find the rooms surprisingly soundproof. By night, the only sounds that seep through are the distant church bells and the occasional street performer playing a violin.
The location is a dream for wanderers who want to get lost in the city’s history. Right outside the door, you’ll find the old market stalls where locals sell fresh apricots and homemade cheese—just a quick walk south brings you to the Sioni Cathedral, where the stone walls whisper centuries of stories. If you’re up for a hike, just a short walk north will take you to Mtatsminda, where the cable car offers a panoramic view of the city, especially gorgeous at sunset. I love walking in the early

The best was having breakfast or coffee on the balcony with the superb view to Mtkvari river. I liked old Georgian stile of furnishings, books available on the shelves. Kitchen is all equipped and in a good shape. The property owner is very polite and eager to help.

Lovely place in Tbilisi – Bogdan from Ukraine – November 15, 2023 (10/10)
This place feels really like home! And it's close to beautiful parts of Tbilisi, very beautiful views from the bridge nearby. All you need in the room: microwave, stovetop, fridge, wash machine, table for laptop, good wifi. It's an excellent place!
We wished we could have stayed longer! – Tom from Singapore – August 7, 2023 (10/10)
Specious apartment with everything we needed. Owner’s family is very kind and attentive.
What could be improved: It didn’t bother us much but the washing machine was very small. It could be more convenient if it were a bit bigger.Very Good – Ania from Poland – July 4, 2025 (8/10)
Place is really nice, owner is very helpful.
What could be improved: The only drawback is – the bed creaks terribly.Comfortable in all respects. No complaints. – Iain from United Kingdom – December 29, 2024 (8/10)
The experience was perfectly fine. The place was sufficiently-well equipped, the area is fine: metro station not too far away and there are options for restaurants, shops, etc. nearby, including a supermarket for essentials downstairs. Taxis will likely be a preferred option if one wants to get into the older part of the city but, with local apps this is not a problem or a great expense.
What could be improved: It's quite an impersonal experience: some people might prefer that so, it's not bad; it's just a detail that people may or may not prefer. The host wasn't always quick to respond; I got the impression there are a few properties under her/their management. She did appear at some point in order to take payment in person, with a receipt (which is appreciated) when I wrote in the chat that I prefer not to just leave cash in the property to be collected after check out.
