You walk into the lobby and there’s this immediate sense that someone curated every piece carefully, not just slapped up some generic paintings to fill wall space.

What really struck me during my stay was how they’ve managed to balance that museum-quality aesthetic with genuine comfort. The rooms have these beautiful original details – I mean, you can tell they put serious thought into preserving architectural elements while making everything feel livable. My room had these gorgeous wooden floors that creaked just slightly when you walked across them (in a charming way, not annoying), and the lighting was actually perfect for reading, which honestly is rarer than it should be in hotels. The 8.8 rating makes complete sense once you experience how they handle the small stuff – like, the shower pressure was excellent, and they’d clearly invested in quality linens rather than just going with whatever was cheapest.

The location is pretty fantastic too, though you’ll want to explore the surrounding area on foot to really appreciate it. There’s this vibrant cultural district right outside your door, and I found myself wandering into little galleries and cafes that I never would have discovered otherwise. Actually, the hotel staff seemed genuinely knowledgeable about what was happening locally – not just the obvious tourist spots, but smaller exhibitions and events that were worth checking out. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy periods, so I’d recommend asking them about arrangements when you book. The breakfast area gets some lovely morning light, and while it’s not huge, there’s something intimate about starting your day surrounded by carefully chosen artwork. I spent way more time than planned just sitting there with coffee, taking in the details. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to hang out in the common spaces rather than just rushing through them.
