The rooms themselves feel like a private sanctuary after a day of sightseeing. I booked a standard room with a balcony that looked out over the city’s rooftops and the distant hills of the Caucasus. The bed was so comfortable I almost fell asleep on the first night, but the real magic was the small, textured rug that adds a touch of Georgian hospitality. The bathroom is spotless, with a deep soaking tub that I used to unwind while listening to the faint hum of the city. The air conditioning is loud when it kicks in, a minor annoyance, but the view more than compensates. For those who love to cook, the kitchenette is surprisingly well-equipped – a kettle, a small fridge, and a few utensils that make it easy to whip up a quick breakfast. I took advantage of that and brewed myself a pot of black tea with a splash of saffron, a local twist that really woke me up.

Outside, the hotel’s courtyard is a quiet oasis, especially early in the morning. You can sit on the stone benches and watch the city start to stir, with the first light reflecting off the old stone walls of the fortress. I’ve found that the best time to enjoy this spot is right before the city’s usual hustle kicks in, around 7 am. If you need parking, there’s a small paid lot behind the building, but be prepared – the space is tight and you’ll probably need to do a quick maneuver to fit your car. At night, the lights from the street lamps cast a gentle glow, and the noise level drops to a comfortable whisper, which is perfect for a decent night’s sleep. Overall, Midamo Orbeliani feels like a home away from home; it’s got that authentic Georgian charm you crave, without the fluff of typical resort marketing.
