Metekhi Line Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Metekhi Line Hotel on Ioseb Grishashvili Street, you immediately sense you’ve found something special in Tbilisi’s old town. This four-star property sits right in the heart of the city — and I mean literally in the heart, where you can practically feel the pulse of Georgian culture around every corner. The building itself has that perfect blend of traditional Georgian architecture with modern touches that doesn’t feel forced or touristy. You know what strikes me most? It’s how the hotel manages to feel both intimate and sophisticated without trying too hard.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is pretty much unbeatable — there’s a reason couples rate it 9.1 for romantic getaways. You’re a stone’s throw from the Metekhi Church (which the hotel takes its name from), and the famous sulfur baths district is just down the hill. I love how you can walk to Narikala Fortress in about ten minutes, or stroll across the Bridge of Peace to reach the modern part of town. The narrow cobblestone streets around here are lined with wine bars and traditional Georgian restaurants, so you’re never short of authentic dining options. Plus, having free parking in this part of Tbilisi is actually a huge deal — trust me on this one.
The Rooms
The rooms at Metekhi Line Hotel strike that sweet spot between comfort and character. Each one feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter, with local artwork and furnishings that nod to Georgian heritage without going overboard. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern with excellent water pressure — something you can’t always count on in historic city centers. What I really appreciate is how quiet the rooms are despite being in such a central location. The windows are well-insulated, so you get the charm of the old town without the late-night street noise.
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast spread here is honestly impressive, especially for a four-star hotel. They’ve got continental options covered, but what sets them apart is the attention to dietary needs — vegetarian, vegan, and halal options that actually taste good, not like afterthoughts. You’ll find traditional Georgian breads alongside international favorites, and the local honey is exceptional. The dining area has these lovely views over the old town rooftops, which makes morning coffee feel like a proper experience rather than just fuel for the day ahead.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.4 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how Metekhi Line Hotel gets the details right. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood and will point you toward hidden gems rather than just the obvious tourist spots. The hotel manages to feel authentically Georgian while meeting international comfort standards, which isn’t as easy as it sounds. Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend or exploring Tbilisi’s incredible food and wine scene, this place puts you right where you want to be without the premium prices of five-star properties. It’s the kind of hotel that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special, even though plenty of smart travelers have already figured it out.

Reviews of Metekhi Line Hotel
great views in old Tbilisi, clean rooms, poor breakfast – Alina from United Kingdom – September 2, 2025 (8/10)
This understated hotel has stupendous panoramic views from its spacious terraces, clean and comfortable rooms and is well located in old Tbilisi, a quiet area but close to main attractions. Overall good value for money.
What could be improved: The breakfast was poor with cheap supermarket bread and reduced variety of foods. The female member of staff in the breakfast room did not respond to us greeting her and was very indifferent. If the hotel could improve the quality of breakfast we would stay there again.Exceptional – Klaus from Germany – September 1, 2025 (10/10)

Fantastic service. We got upgraded to a beautiful big room. Good breakfast. Spotless. Feels brand new. Very quiet. It’s not 4 stars, but a very solid 3.
