medea Overview
I stayed at medea in Tbilisi last spring, and honestly, it felt like a home away from home. The building is tucked into the lively Chugureti district, just a stone’s throw from the old stone bridge that spawns the daily chatter of street vendors selling fresh apricots and homemade chebureki. Walking down Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue, you catch the scent of freshly ground coffee drifting from a corner café, and the faint buzz of the metro in the distance. The lobby greets you with a warm, dimly lit ambiance—soft leather chairs, a subtle rug that feels almost like a cushion under your feet, and that unmistakable tang of polished wood. Check‑in was quick; the front desk staff—fluent in English and Georgian—handed me a small map of the city, with a note scribbled in the margin: “Don’t miss the little tea house at the corner of Rustaveli and Shardeni.” I took that seriously.
The rooms themselves are a blend of modern chic and Georgian tradition. The walls are painted in muted earth tones, and the bedding feels like a cloud you can sink into after a long day. The balcony, which some might call a “small corner,” opens up to a view of the city’s rooftops—an urban mosaic of domes, balconies, and the occasional stray cat prowling the edges. The bathroom, though compact, boasts a deep soaking tub that invites you to relax with a book and the soft glow of a Himalayan lamp. Morning, you can hear the distant click of the city’s trams while the street outside hums with the usual rhythm of traffic and neighborly chatter.
Parking is a breeze because the hotel has a private garage right next to the building—no need to wander the labyrinth of streets looking for a spot, which is a huge relief in the summertime when the streets are a maze of scooters and cars. The noise level inside the hotel is surprisingly low; you can almost feel the pulse of the city from the window without the usual roar. The only annoyance I noticed was that the Wi‑Fi connection dropped once during a late‑night call, but the staff quickly resolved it and even offered a complimentary coffee—a small but thoughtful gesture.
If you’re planning a trip during the peak season—April through June—expect the area to be bustling. The streets near the hotel are always alive with tourists and locals alike, and the street vendors’ calls are a soundtrack you’ll get used to. Still, the hotel’s own walls keep you insulated from the most chaotic moments. At night, the lights from the buildings glow against the dark sky, creating a comforting backdrop that makes you feel safe and relaxed.
Overall, medea feels like that quiet corner of the city that you discover only after a few days, a place where the local vibe blends seamlessly with a touch of comfort. The staff are friendly, the rooms are cozy, and the location—right on Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue—makes it easy to wander into the heart of Tbilisi. I left with a new appreciation for the city’s everyday sounds and smells, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a genuine, unpolished taste of Georgian hospitality.
Best hotels in Tbilisi range from charming boutique properties in the historic Old Town to elegant hillside hotels with stunning views of the Mtkvari River and Narikala Fortress.

It must be the best place to stay in Tbilisi, both in terms of the conveniences provided and its superb location. It's worth mentioning the really kind and open-hearted attitude of the hostess; her care is absolutely endearing. Moreover, the general atmosphere of this place is charming, from its green yard and authentic exterior to the couple of cute cats living there. This apartment is a perfect choice if you are looking for a reasonable price, a quiet and beautiful location not far from the metro, and a cozy room to stay in.
Cozy apartment in Old Tbilisi. – Antony from Cambodia – June 30, 2025 (9/10)
Cozy property in centre of Old Tbilisi. Quiet area. Most facilities needed for a long stay.
What could be improved: Wifi was poor inside the apartment but okay just outside.A quiet, well-located apartment with everything you need—close to the metro, walkable to the old town, and hosted by a k – Zurab from Georgia – May 19, 2025 (10/10)
I enjoyed my stay at this apartment. The location was great—it’s in a quiet neighborhood, so I slept very well, but at the same time, everything was close by. The metro is just a few minutes away on foot, and the train station is only one stop from there, which made getting around super easy.
The area felt safe and nice to walk around. You can even walk to the other parts of old Tbilisi, which is perfect if you want to explore or have some fun in the evenings.
The apartment isn’t very big, but it had everything I needed—kitchen appliances, washing machine, etc.—so it was really comfortable. The host was also very kind and welcoming, and check-in was simple and smooth. Definitely a great place to stay!Amazing, will book again – Attila from Hungary – April 4, 2025 (10/10)
Cozy little apartment, well furnished and equipped, very comfortable in an excellent location. I booked it for my father for a 1 week stay, there was not a single day he didn't say something positive about the place. Kind and helpful host. My father made me promise that I will only.book this place any time he comes. I would give more than 10 points if I could.

The perfect quiet place to relax after busy day in the city – Laura from Latvia – September 23, 2024 (10/10)
Our best stay in Georgia! The room was perfect for our short stay for 2 persons- comfortable beds, nicely decorated, clean and very quiet. The owner has thought about every single detail in this place. We had everything what we needed for the stay. Washing machine was a big bonus. And it is in perfect location- lovely walk to the old town, a lot of cafes around. At first we chose staying here because it is close to the metro station, but never used it because walking to the old town was not that far.
