Lilika Apartments on Meskhishvili Overview

I just got back from a week in Tbilisi and I have to tell you about this little gem I found on Meskhishvili Street 12. Honestly, the first thing that struck me was the building’s old‑world charm – a neat, two‑story structure with a faded beige façade that looks like it’s been standing there for a century. The front desk is right by the main door, and the staff greet you with a warm “Bokhali” (yes, that’s how you say hello in Georgian). Check‑in was quick, 24/7 service, and they gave you a smart card that works for the apartment and the on‑site laundry. They’re not a corporate chain, so the vibe feels more personal.

The apartment itself is a cozy 2‑bedroom suite, perfect for a couple or a small group. The living area has a soft sofa and a big, flat‑screen TV – the kind of space that makes you want to stay in all day. The kitchen is surprisingly well‑equipped: a coffee machine that brews a decent shot of espresso (I made you a cup if you’re reading this at home), a small fridge, and a little table that’s just the right size for a quick bite. The bathroom has a walk‑in shower with a showerhead that’s surprisingly efficient – it covers you with water even if the pressure dips a bit. The walls are painted in neutral tones, and the windows look out onto a quiet, narrow street that’s a hub for local cafés and the occasional street performer. The apartment has good soundproofing – you might hear the distant honk of a taxi or the murmur of a neighbor in the hallway, but it’s not a constant buzz.

Now, let me talk about the real perks – the location. If you’re looking to explore Tbilisi’s Old Town, just a five‑minute walk from Meskhishvili is the bustling Rustaveli Avenue, where you can hop on a tram and head into the heart of the city. There’s a narrow, cobblestone lane that leads to the historic Metekhi Church, and within a stone’s throw you’ll find a small, family‑run tea house that serves the best khachapuri I’ve ever tasted. For a quieter night, head down to the thermal baths at a nearby alley – the steam and the scent of eucalyptus will melt away any travel fatigue. If you’re on a budget, you can park your car in the small underground garage just a block away, or grab a spot on the street where locals leave their cars in the early morning; it’s a bit of a scavenger hunt, but worth it. The only downside is that the apartment’s kitchen is a bit cramped, and the Wi‑Fi can be spotty at times, especially during peak hours around 3–4 pm when everyone’s streaming Georgian TV shows.

There’s also the little detail that made me smile – the balcony. It’s not a huge balcony, but it offers a great view of the city’s skyline at sunset. You can sit on the tiny chair, sip a glass of red wine, and watch the sunset paint the rooftops orange. The scent of fresh bread from a bakery looms in the distance, and you can hear the clatter of a street vendor selling fresh oranges. The apartment’s décor is a mix of modern and traditional Georgian elements; the rug on the floor is hand‑woven, and there’s a small Persian painting hanging on the wall. I can honestly say that staying there felt like a short stay in a local’s home, not a hotel.

Overall, Lilika Apartments on Meskhishvili is a solid 4‑star spot with a 9.4 rating that lives up to its reputation. It’s a place where you feel grounded in the city’s rhythm, have easy access to the must‑see
