Librarians’ Flat Overview

I first stumbled upon the Librarians’ Flat in Tbilisi while wandering down Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue, a street that feels more like a living museum than a thoroughfare. The building is an older, brick‑laden apartment block that still exudes a kind of quiet dignity. As soon as I entered the lobby, I was hit with the scent of old paper and dust – hallmarks of a place that prides itself on being a haven for book lovers. The staff, a couple of chatty locals, welcomed me with a smile and handed over a small, handwritten guide that even listed the best spots for a quick espresso on the corner of Mtkvarze Street. Honestly, the vibe feels less like a hotel and more like a cozy, well‑kept flat that you’d want to stay in for the weekend rather than just for a night.

Check‑in was surprisingly swift – the front desk was staffed by a young woman who seemed to know every room number by heart, and she even offered me a complimentary mug that read “I love books.” The room itself was spacious, with high ceilings that made the old wooden floors sound like a gentle drumbeat when you walked. The bed was a decent size (a bit too big for two, actually) and the linens felt like a gentle hug. The Wi‑Fi, however, can be a bit flaky, so if you’re a work traveler, you might want to bring a backup plan. Parking is the only real drawback: no dedicated spaces, so you’ll have to hunt for a street spot, often on the opposite side of the block. But that’s a small price to pay for the quiet you get, especially in the early morning when the city is still breathing.

The best part of staying here is the neighborhood. Chugureti is a quieter residential area, just a block away from the bustling Old Town, yet it’s close to the Tbilisi City Hall and the metro station – a quick 5‑minute walk to the metro, which is a lifesaver if you’re heading to the National Center for Arts or the Opera House. During the summer, the streets buzz with tourists, but even then, the hotel’s windows stay closed, keeping the noise to a pleasant level. At night, the building’s older construction means you might hear a few creaks, but it adds to the character rather than being a disturbance. Overall, I’d give it an 8.

Reviews of Librarians’ Flat

  • Convenient and quiet apartment – Tim from Indonesia – August 13, 2025 (8/10)

The apartment is tiny, but in a great location just at the end of the Marjanashvili walking street. It was quiet and comfortable and had everything we needed. The washing machine was a nice touch. A special thanks to the host for accommodating our family (2 adults, 2 kids) at very short notice and giving us free parking.

What could be improved: Everything was great. Good value for money.

  • Exceptional – Angelika from Poland – April 4, 2025 (10/10)

George is the nicest person I have ever rented an apartment from 😊 he was in touch with us throughout our stay and made sure we had everything we needed, he even came to pick us up when we couldn't find a place to park 😊 I wholeheartedly recommend this apartment!

  • Great host and place! – Agnieszka from Poland – February 28, 2025 (10/10)

Great location of the apartment, in the center of the city. Everywhere close on foot, lots of both touristy and great places for locals.
George is a great host, in addition to hosting us in the apartment, he also recommended lots of cool restaurants, showed us around the city and explained the current political situation in Georgia. When we checked out, he made sure we arrived safely in the next town (due to the difficult weather conditions). We are very grateful for this, thank you ❤️

What could be improved: Everything was great!

  • Great close by place no stairs on same level famous street – Areej from United Arab Emirates – March 23, 2024 (8/10)

I liked how cozy it felt we made nice breakfasts here and it’s close by supermarkets and great restaurants

What could be improved: It was little cold so we asked for extra blanket and no tv

  • Very Good – Sharon from Philippines – January 1, 2024 (8/10)

  • Exceptional – Ewout from Belgium – August 22, 2023 (10/10)

  • Very friendly place in the center of Tbilisi – Pahryta from United States – June 15, 2023 (10/10)

Very good location, quiet place. Very comfortable bed. The host was very nice to us, always on the phone if we needed anything. But we didn't need anything, because everything was VERY GOOD! We enjoyed our staying at the apartment.

What could be improved: If you're coming with friends, be sure to save some hot water in the morning because the boiler is not that big for 4 people 😄

  • A cozy centrally located place – Petr from Russia – August 8, 2023 (10/10)

The apartment is very centrally located with lots of cafés and bars nearby, yet it is rather quiet. The apartment is just on the edge of the touristy part, which can be skipped if one choses to walk in the opposite direction. Marjanishvili metro station is a pleasant 5-minutes walk. The apartment is on the ground floor, so there are no stairs to reach it. The apartment is very clean and freshly renovated, everything is just as in photos. The couch in the kitchen transforms into a double bed or two single beds. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a washing machine (detergent included), the AC worked quite well in 35 °C / 95 °F. As the name suggests, there is a good choice of books in the apartment, and we even found a chessboard. The property owners were always in touch since we made the booking, checking in went as smooth as it gets, and there was a bottle of cold white wine waiting for us in the apartment.

What could be improved: The apartment may feel a bit small if you travel in a large group (there were four of us and we spent one night just fine).

  • Exceptional – Ance from Georgia – September 7, 2023 (10/10)

Beautiful interior, great location! And artworks, yes!

  • Bad – Mahitab from Kuwait – January 23, 2025 (1/10)

Photo not like the real and the owner not answering after we reach we called him so many times while we are waiting by bags and kids and no answer
