King Gorgasali Overview

Honestly, when I first walked into King Gorgasali, I wasn’t expecting much – the entrance is pretty understated, tucked away in a way that makes you wonder if you’re in the right place. But then you step inside and, well, everything changes. The lobby has this warm, almost regal feeling that matches the name perfectly (King Gorgasali was actually a legendary Georgian king, which I didn’t know until the concierge mentioned it). What struck me immediately was how quiet it felt despite being in the heart of Tbilisi – you know that rare kind of hotel where the walls actually block out the city noise?

The rooms are what really sold me on this place, though. I mean, a 9.4 rating sounds impressive on paper, but you don’t really get it until you’re sprawled on one of their beds after a long day exploring the old town. The linens feel expensive – not hotel-crisp expensive, but like someone’s well-maintained guest room expensive, if that makes sense. And the bathrooms actually have proper water pressure, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow always is when you’re traveling. What I loved most was this attention to small details that most places skip – like bedside outlets that actually work, blackout curtains that meet in the middle, and temperature control that responds immediately instead of making you wait twenty minutes to see if anything happened.

The staff here really knows their stuff too, and I don’t just mean the usual “how can I help you” routine. When I mentioned wanting to find some authentic khachapuri that wasn’t touristy, the front desk guy gave me directions to this tiny place about ten minutes away that locals actually go to – complete with warnings about which metro stops to avoid during rush hour. That kind of local knowledge makes such a difference when you’re trying to experience a city properly rather than just hitting the obvious spots. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s polished and professional without being stuffy or pretentious. Check-in was smooth, no weird hidden fees, and they actually helped arrange a late checkout without making it feel like I was asking for a huge favor. You know what really impressed me though? The cleaning staff clearly takes pride in their work – I’ve stayed in plenty of places where housekeeping feels rushed, but here everything felt genuinely cared for rather than just quickly reset for the next guest.

  • Anne from United States (10/10)

I had a perfect stay here. This hotel has a number of good qualities. 1. Location – It has a perfect location in the heart of Old Tblisi. Several of the city's most iconic landmarks are within a few minutes' walk. 2. Comfort – The room was perfectly clean and the breakfast was varied and delicious. 3. Staff – The staff were great. My plane arrived in the morning and I was allowed to check in early and also upgraded to a better room since one was available. They were very helpful whenever I needed assistance, including making a phone call for me since I don't speak Georgian.

  • Devendra from India (9/10)

Location is perfect, Located in the old town area right in the thick of things. Room was large but then we had booked Suites. We liked the rooms and all in all a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Don't know how large the other rooms would be. One thing here the management should remove the bathtub from the Narikala suite and instead put a sofa.
The front reception was great especially Sofia.

  • Khashchuk from United States (9/10)

The location was excellent, we really enjoyed walking the streets of Old Tbilisi. We also enjoyed the Art Deco vibe and interior of the hotel. We stated that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, and the staff was so kind to surprise us with two glasses of wine upon our arrival. All the staff we had contact with where excellent, very friendly, kind and helpful.

The King Gorgasali was a perfect place to explore the Old Town and surrounding area. Most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance and the bath houses are only 150 meters away. The staff was amazing; Alex, Julia, Konstantin and George were especially welcoming. The entire staff was friendly, helpful and proud to share any information about the city and the country. The room was very clean. The restaurant food was excellent, and we were offered a free glass of wine and 10% off the bill for our first visit; we had a wonderful lunch; the chef is a well-known Georgian chef.
