ibis Tbilisi City Overview

I stayed at the ibis Tbilisi City last month, and honestly, it’s a real gem in the heart of Tbilisi. The first thing that hit me was the lobby—clean, modern, but with that subtle Georgian touch: a hand‑painted ceramic vase that looks like it could have been in a local market stall. Check‑in was a breeze, with a friendly staff member who handed me a map of the city in a crisp, card‑style booklet. They even noted that the shuttle to the airport leaves every hour, which is a lifesaver if you’re flying out early. I almost missed the little detail that the keycards are magnetic and that you have to swipe them at the elevator—no extra fee, just a quick tap, and you’re in.

Room 304 was an airy, bright space with a view of the old town’s cobblestone streets. The bed was surprisingly plush for a 4‑star budget chain, and the memory foam topper kept me from waking up with a sore back. I love that the hotel offers a small library of books with local history, but the real perk was the free “Tbilisi Night Guide” they slipped into my room. I peeked through it and spotted the best spots to grab a khinkali around the Paliashvili Street corner. The real touch? The kitchenette has a single stove and a mini fridge—great for whipping up a quick breakfast if you’re tired from a night out. It’s quiet, too; the city noise is just a faint hum, not the kind that rattles your brain.

The location is unbeatable. I walked to the nearby Rustaveli Avenue, where the fountains and the old Soviet statue of Stalin greet you, and then meandered down to the Old Town to explore the bathhouses. The hotel’s street, Vladimer Tsitlanadze, is lined with a handful of cafés, a sweet ice‑cream shop that serves homemade gelato (I swear, the pistachio is the best you’ll get in the city), and a tiny bookshop that sells Georgian poetry you can buy to take home. Parking is a bit of a hassle—there’s a small paid lot a block away that’s always full on weekends, but the hotel offers a free valet service on weekdays, which I found convenient. The noise level is just right: lively during the day, but the building’s walls keep the evening chatter from seeping into the room.

Overall, the ibis Tbilisi City feels like a home base that lets you step out into the city without the luxury price tag. The staff are genuinely helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the location is a stone’s throw from everything that matters—markets, historic sites, and the best street food. If you’re planning a trip to Tbilisi and want a place that feels both modern and authentically Georgian, this is the spot you should definitely consider. It’s not the most expensive place in the city, but it’s definitely the most rewarding in terms of experience and convenience.

Reviews of ibis Tbilisi City

  • Wonderful – Mark from Israel – August 10, 2025 (9/10)

Everything EXCEPT for the loud music in the lobby.
    Amazingly clean.
It a brand new building (or renovated) – Western European/USA style rooms.

What could be improved: a) The lobby was a wonderful place to sit with ONE exception – the loud music. I do not know if this is this particular IBIS or that culturally people prefer loud music. I spent most of my life in USA, and did not appreciate the music.
    b) I love long walks so I did not mind the fact that it was a 45 minute to the tourist aware. Some others might like it less. BUT — it a brand new building (or renovated) – Western European/USA style rooms. It IS in a nice neighborhood – just a 45 minute walk from the historical area.
