Hotel Old City Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Old City on Viktor Jorbenadze Street, you immediately get why this place has such a strong reputation with couples. The building itself has this understated elegance that fits perfectly into Tbilisi’s historic district — it’s not trying too hard, but there’s definitely something special about it. The entrance feels intimate rather than grand, which honestly sets the tone for the entire experience. You know what really struck me? The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, and that’s not something you see everywhere.

The Heart of Old Tbilisi

The location is absolutely spot-on for exploring the city’s soul. You’re literally steps away from the sulfur baths district and the winding cobblestone streets that make Tbilisi so enchanting. I mean, you can walk to Narikala Fortress in about ten minutes, and the famous Leghvtakhevi Waterfall is practically around the corner. What’s great is that you’re in the thick of things without dealing with the noise — Viktor Jorbenadze Street is just quiet enough that you’ll actually sleep well. The four-star rating feels right for what you get here.

Your Room Experience

The room design strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and Georgian character. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy. Most rooms have these lovely views either toward the old city or the surrounding hills — honestly, either option works well. The air conditioning actually works properly, which you’ll appreciate during Tbilisi’s hot summers. There’s also decent storage space, though the closets aren’t huge if you’re the type who overpacks.

Dining and Daily Rhythms

The hotel’s restaurant serves solid Georgian cuisine alongside international options, though I’d actually recommend venturing out for dinner — you’re surrounded by some fantastic local spots. Breakfast is where they really shine, with fresh khachapuri and a good selection of both Georgian and continental items. The coffee is better than average, which matters more than you might think when you’re planning day trips around the region. Service throughout the day feels attentive but never intrusive — they seem to understand that travelers want help when they ask for it, not constant hovering.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back is how this place manages to feel both authentic and comfortable. You’re staying in a real Georgian neighborhood, not some tourist bubble, but you still get reliable wifi, good water pressure, and helpful concierge service. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you consider that couples consistently rate their experience highly — there’s something about the intimate scale and thoughtful touches that works especially well for romantic getaways. It’s not the fanciest hotel in Tbilisi, but it might just be the most satisfying for travelers who want to actually experience the city rather than just pass through it.

Tbilisi hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Georgia’s cultural capital, known for its legendary wine culture and unique architectural blend.

Location: This hotel is located in the heart of Old Town. Coming out in the morning onto the ancient cobblestone pavement, you can easily imagine yourself at the end of the century before last. With a light step down the hill, you reach the embankment of the Kura River, where your journey begins.
