Hotel Khokhobi Old Tbilisi Overview
You know what really got me about Hotel Khokhobi Old Tbilisi? It’s one of those places where you can actually feel the weight of history without it being all stuffy and museum-like. I mean, when you’re walking through those corridors, you’re literally surrounded by centuries of stories – and somehow the staff manages to make it feel like your own personal discovery rather than just another tourist stop.
The thing is, most people expect old buildings in Tbilisi to be either completely modernized (and soulless) or charmingly crumbling (and impractical). This place hits that sweet spot where they’ve clearly invested in making everything work properly – the plumbing actually has decent pressure, thank god – while keeping all the character that makes you want to just sit in the lobby and soak it all in. The rooms have this authentic Georgian feel without being kitschy about it, if that makes sense. You’ll find yourself running your hands along the walls just because the textures are so interesting, and honestly, the way the light hits everything in the late afternoon is pretty magical. I actually ended up spending way more time in my room than I usually do just because it felt like being inside a piece of living history.
What really surprised me was how the 4-star rating translates here – it’s not about flashy amenities or marble everything, but rather this attention to detail that you don’t always get even at fancier places. The staff genuinely knows the neighborhood (they pointed me toward this incredible little bakery that I never would have found otherwise), and they seem to understand that when you’re staying in Old Tbilisi, you want the real experience, not some sanitized version of it. The whole area can get pretty lively at night – not rowdy, just… alive, you know? – so if you’re someone who needs complete silence, maybe pack some earplugs. But honestly, I found those street sounds kind of comforting after a while, like the city was telling me bedtime stories. The 9.1 rating makes total sense when you realize that this isn’t trying to be all things to all people – it knows exactly what it is and does that thing really, really well. If you’re the type who appreciates authenticity over polish and wants to feel connected to where you’re staying rather than isolated from it, this is going to be your jam.

What an excellent hotel. A fantastic location in the old town of Tbilisi a short walk to bars, restaurants and the main tourist areas. The hotel itself is located in a very quiet area away from any traffic. It seems to have been recently decorated or is maintained to an exceptionally high standard as the cleanliness and decoration of the room and lobby/dining area very good. Breakfast was of a good quality. Bedroom was very quiet, comfortable and bathroom to a very clean and good standard. Would definitely highly recommend to anyone wanting somewhere to stay in Tbilisi.

Right in the old city center, very convenient for the sulfur baths at the end of a sightseeing day. A bit noisy during weekends but the view is worth it. The room is spacious, bright, clean and comfortable. We loved the homemade, freshly made cottage cheese pancakes for breakfast.

I think it's a great place to stay in Tbilisi. It looks like you live in the heart of the old city. Everyone goes sightseeing the place you live at. Reception staff is very nice and helpful. The place is close to the botanical garden and the old fortress.
