Hotel Khokhobi Old Tbilisi Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Khokhobi Old Tbilisi on Abano Turn, you immediately know you’ve found something special. The building itself feels like it belongs in this historic part of Tbilisi — there’s an authenticity here that some of the newer hotels just can’t match. I mean, you’re literally steps away from the sulfur baths that gave this neighborhood its character centuries ago. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, which honestly feels refreshing in a city where some places go overboard with the “old world charm” thing.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about staying here — you can walk to pretty much everything that matters in Old Town without breaking a sweat. The famous sulfur baths are right there (hence the street name), and you’re maybe a five-minute stroll to Narikala Fortress if you’re up for the climb. What really impressed me though was how quiet it stays despite being so central. You know how some four-star hotels in tourist areas can feel like you’re sleeping in the middle of a street fair? Not here. The couples who stay here seem to get it — there’s something romantic about having all of Tbilisi’s best spots within walking distance while still feeling tucked away.

The Room Experience

My room had this perfect balance of modern comfort and local character that’s honestly hard to pull off. The design doesn’t hit you over the head with “Georgian traditional” elements, but there are thoughtful touches that remind you where you are. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious — actually, everything felt more generous than I expected for this part of the city. Air conditioning worked perfectly (crucial during Tbilisi summers), and the bed was genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable.

Morning Fuel

The buffet breakfast deserves a mention because it’s one of those meals that sets the tone for your whole day. They’ve got the usual suspects covered, but what I appreciated were the Georgian touches — fresh khachapuri, local cheeses, and honey that actually tastes like it came from somewhere nearby rather than a industrial supplier. The dining area gets good morning light, and there’s something satisfying about planning your day over coffee while looking out at the old city waking up. It’s not fancy, but it feels right for the place.

Why Guests Love It

Look, there are flashier hotels in Tbilisi, and there are cheaper ones too. But Hotel Khokhobi Old Tbilisi hits this sweet spot where everything just works without any drama. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they’ll point you toward the best khinkali spot or tell you which route to take for the best fortress views. The location score of 9.6 isn’t just numbers on a website; it’s the reality of stepping out your door and being immediately immersed in the best of what old Tbilisi offers. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that don’t try to be everything to everyone, and this hotel gets that completely.

  • Jack from United Kingdom (10/10)

What an excellent hotel. A fantastic location in the old town of Tbilisi a short walk to bars, restaurants and the main tourist areas. The hotel itself is located in a very quiet area away from any traffic. It seems to have been recently decorated or is maintained to an exceptionally high standard as the cleanliness and decoration of the room and lobby/dining area very good. Breakfast was of a good quality. Bedroom was very quiet, comfortable and bathroom to a very clean and good standard. Would definitely highly recommend to anyone wanting somewhere to stay in Tbilisi.

  • Paola from Italy (10/10)

Right in the old city center, very convenient for the sulfur baths at the end of a sightseeing day. A bit noisy during weekends but the view is worth it. The room is spacious, bright, clean and comfortable. We loved the homemade, freshly made cottage cheese pancakes for breakfast.
