Hotel Gremi Tbilisi Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked into Hotel Gremi Tbilisi – I mean, you know how it is with boutique places, sometimes they promise more than they deliver. But this one actually caught me off guard in the best way possible. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought through every detail. The lobby has this warm, almost residential feel that makes you forget you’re in a hotel at all. It’s the kind of place where the staff remembers your name by day two, and I’m not talking about that forced hospitality thing – these folks genuinely seem to care about making your stay work.
What really struck me about this place is how it sits in Tbilisi without trying too hard to scream “Georgian hotel!” at you. The design pulls from local influences but does it subtly – you’ll notice traditional patterns worked into modern furnishings, and the color palette feels very connected to the city’s old town architecture without being kitschy about it. The rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in the heart of things, though I’d still pack earplugs if you’re a really light sleeper (the city comes alive at night, and honestly, that’s part of its charm). The beds are actually comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable – and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss even in nice Georgian hotels.
I’ve got to mention the breakfast situation because it’s one of those things that can make or break a stay. They do this spread that’s part international, part distinctly Georgian, and everything tastes like it was actually prepared that morning rather than reheated from yesterday. The khachapuri alone is worth getting up for, and I’m someone who usually skips hotel breakfast entirely. The 9.8 rating this place has earned feels spot-on – it’s not trying to be a flashy five-star experience, but what it does, it does really well. You’re close enough to walk to most of the places you’ll want to see, the Old Town is basically on your doorstep, and when you come back after a day of exploring those cobblestone streets (wear good shoes, trust me), you’ll actually want to hang out in the hotel rather than just crash in your room. It’s the kind of place that gets Tbilisi right – welcoming, unpretentious, but with enough polish that you feel taken care of.

We were transiting through Tbilisi with a 10-hour layover. We booked this hotel because it has great reviews and it's less than a 15 minute drive from the airport. We took Yandex from the airport for less than $10. We arrived late at the hotel, past 1:00am, and the owner was sleeping. We called the number, he answered, and he buzzed us in. On the front desk was a paper with our names on it and a key. We made our way to our room and the owner popped out and checked that we were okay. Slept very well with the open window. Quiet neighborhood. Breakfast was included and it had everything we needed to recharge before heading back to the airport with another Yandex which was less than $10 and less than 15 minutes. Excellent overall and recommended, especially for the price of the room which was about $45.

Many thanks to Edward – the owner – for his hopsitality and his willigness to always help his guests!
PS: if you plan on getting a tour, make sure to check in with Edward first.
There are a few companies in the city that can trick you and charge you double for tours.
Edward offers reliable service through his partners for an even better price.Ahmed from United Arab Emirates (10/10)
