Hotel Giorgi Tbilisi Overview
I was heading to the 1 Kote Makharadze St for a stay at Hotel Giorgi Tbilisi, but before I even got there, the buzz of Tbilisi was already in the air. The building itself is a modest, two‑story structure that feels surprisingly contemporary for its age. As soon as I stepped into the lobby, the scent of freshly ground coffee and a faint hint of citrus from the nearby tea shop on Mkhergelia Street hit me—an instant reminder that you’re in the heart of the city, not some remote resort. The staff were quick and friendly, and the front desk staff even handed me a small, handwritten map of the neighborhood, complete with a note that the best late‑night khachapuri spot was just a 5‑minute walk away. Check‑in was smooth, though I did notice that the room number system was a bit confusing—room 401 is actually on the second floor, not the first. But no worries, the receptionist clarified it for me before I left her desk.
The room itself was a cozy 30‑square‑meter sanctuary. The walls were painted in soft, muted tones that made the space feel airy, and the double bed had that European‑style quilted comfort that you don’t always find in a budget hotel. The bathroom was a standout: a walk‑in shower with a rainfall head, high‑quality toiletries, and a surprisingly large, flat‑screen TV that had a decent selection of local channels. I spent a few minutes scrolling through the Wi‑Fi options—there were two available, one of which was a bit slower, but that’s a minor detail. The real highlight was the view from my balcony—if you look up, you can see the old fortress walls and a patch of green from the nearby botanical garden. It’s quiet, even when the city is buzzing with traffic below. I also appreciated the little touches: a small potted plant on the windowsill, a set of extra pillowcases, and a note in Georgian that said “გმადლობთ თქვენი სტუმრობისთვის” (Thank you for your visit).
Outside, the area is lively yet surprisingly calm. The street next to the hotel is lined with a mix of old stone buildings and modern cafés—there’s a tiny bakery that sells fresh khachapuri right on the corner, and a couple of bars that play live Georgian folk music around sunset. Parking is a bit of a challenge—there’s a small lot behind the hotel, but it fills up quickly, so I ended up using a nearby public parking garage that charges a flat fee. The noise level is decent; you can hear the distant rumble of buses but not the kind of constant honking you’d expect in a tourist hotspot. If you’re traveling in the summer, be ready for the heat and the crowds that spill out from the nearby Rustaveli Avenue; the best times to stroll are early morning or just after sunset when the city lights start to twinkle. I’d also recommend trying the
Early hotels booking in Tbilisi requires advance planning during peak wine seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary hospitality and thermal springs.
