guest house Merci Overview
I arrived in Tbilisi last month on a hot July day, and the first thing that hit me was the buzz of the city’s heart – the mix of old stone and new glass, the aroma of roasted coffee from a street vendor, and the constant hum of conversation in multiple languages. The guest house Merci, tucked onto Ikalto Hill Street in Saburtalo, feels like a secret garden in the middle of the buzz. When I pulled up to the building, a friendly woman greeted me with a wide smile and handed me a key that looked like it belonged to a boutique hotel rather than a guesthouse. The check‑in was quick, no long queues, and she actually told me where the nearest pharmacy and the best khachapuri spot were – the kind of insider tip that turns a stay into a local experience.
The rooms are surprisingly spacious for a 4‑star rating, with a mix of modern minimalism and cozy Georgian touches. I stayed in a loft with a balcony that overlooks the city skyline; at night the lights flicker like a constellation of street lamps, and the noise from the bus stop next to the building is a gentle hum rather than a disruptive roar. The bed was incredibly comfortable – think cloud‑soft sheets and a mattress that remembers your shape. The bathroom had a rainfall shower that made me feel like I was in a spa, though the Wi‑Fi was a bit spotty on the first night – you might want to plan your streaming around that. The breakfast spread was a real treat: freshly baked khachapuri, a selection of cheeses, and a local tea that had a hint of cardamom – honestly, it was the best morning I’ve had in the city.
What I liked most was the staff’s genuine enthusiasm and the little details that made the stay feel personal. The concierge offered to arrange a taxi to Mtatsminda for sunset, and he even suggested a quiet Sunday walk down to the Old Town where you can hear the city’s ancient bells and feel the cool breeze off the river. Parking is a bit of a challenge because the street is narrow, but the hotel provides a small, secure parking spot for a modest fee. I found the noise level to be just right – a few cars at night, but mostly the quiet of a city that never really sleeps. If you’re planning a trip to Tbilisi, Merci is a solid choice that feels like a home away from home, and you’ll probably end up telling your friends you discovered a hidden gem in the city’s own backyard.

Very welcoming hosts and tasty homemade breakfast – Kdt_vip from Romania – July 27, 2025 (10/10)
We had a great stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our visit.
Breakfast was a highlight — rich, fresh, and different every morning, with homemade products that showed real attention to quality.
Although it is crowded, we have always found a parking space.
The apartment is close to the Metro station.Exceptional – Leonid from Georgia – January 31, 2025 (10/10)

Top place. Warm and friendly family with smart daughters. The dog is nice even for a cat person like me. Good breakfast as well. Highly recommended.

The hosts were very amicable and accommodating. I stayed with my lovely wife. We felt like family with the warm and friendly atmosphere. My wife especially enjoyed the katchipuri and the daily breakfast.
What could be improved: There was nothing wrong with the hotel itself. However the surrounding area was very hilly. So expect to walk or take a bolt.Exceptional – Emreoz from Turkey – August 30, 2024 (10/10)
The host family is very nice, very warm. We had a very good conversation and they hosted us very well. Everything at breakfast is natural and homemade, very delicious. We were very pleased.
What could be improved: Navigation leads to difficult paths, it may be difficult to find the location.Warm, welcoming bed and breakfast – Paige from United Arab Emirates – June 25, 2024 (10/10)
Zaza, Nana, Nino, and Annamaria were a fabulous family to stay with! So kind and gracious, and it was great to spend time with them some evenings–playing backgammon with Zaza, or the girls entertaining my 4 year old with magic tricks and obliging in whatever silly games he wanted to play. We had a lovely visit, thank you!
What could be improved: Nothing! The power went out on our last night, and Nana was quick to get candles for our rooms. Our stay was excellent.Incredibly welcoming and comfortable hostel! – Denis from Poland – May 25, 2024 (10/10)
It was the most incredible experience I've ever had. The hostel exceeded all my expectations! The hospitality and service provided by Mr. Zaza is beyond praise.
The hostel is located in the very center of Subartalo, close to stores and the metro. The breakfast in the morning is delicious. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. Good beds, showers, and internet.
I highly recommend Merci Hostel to everyone!
What could be improved: I regret not being able to stay longer!Exceptional – Kerilos from Kuwait – March 20, 2024 (10/10)
amazing
Excellent – Maricar from Philippines – February 2, 2024 (10/10)
The place is nice and my family is so happy that we got this place. Also the Sasa and Nana, the owner, are so accommodating and the food are so so so nice. They serve authentic Georgian delicacies. The pace is near as well on the bus/service so public transportation is not a problem. If we are given a chance to come back in Georgia we will book again our stay with them.
What could be improved: Even they are not fluent in English they manage to use the translation in google so I think we dont have any dislike staying with them
