Glarros OldTown Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Glarros OldTown, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. You know how some five-star places can look a bit underwhelming from the street? Well, this one completely flipped that script the moment I stepped through those heavy wooden doors. The lobby actually took my breath away, and I mean that literally – there’s this gorgeous stone archway that frames everything, and the light filtering through these ancient windows creates this almost cathedral-like atmosphere.
What really struck me (and this is something you don’t get from photos online) is how they’ve managed to preserve all these incredible historical details while still feeling completely modern where it counts. The floors are original stone – I asked the front desk manager about it – and they’ve been worn smooth by centuries of foot traffic. But then you’ve got these sleek, minimalist fixtures and the most comfortable furniture I’ve encountered in ages. The rooms are spacious in that old-world way, with thick walls that keep everything blissfully quiet even when the streets get busy during festival season. Actually, my room had this massive window that opened onto a tiny courtyard I hadn’t even noticed from outside, complete with olive trees and the kind of worn stone benches that make you want to sit there with morning coffee for hours.
The staff here really knows their stuff – not in that overly rehearsed concierge way, but genuinely. When I mentioned I was looking for a good local taverna, the woman at reception didn’t just hand me a tourist map. She actually walked me to the front entrance and pointed down a narrow side street I never would have found on my own, explaining exactly which tables to request for the best view. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold, honestly. The 8.9 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s the kind of place where small touches add up to something really special. Check-in was smooth (they actually had my room ready an hour early), and I never had to wait more than a few minutes for anything I needed. One tiny thing – the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some corners of the building, but honestly, that almost felt like a feature rather than a bug. Sometimes you need an excuse to disconnect and just soak in where you are, you know?

We had the perfect stay here. The location can’t be better, in the middle of all the sights we wanted to see. It was clean and quiet. The staff was superfriendly, always ready to help. Everything you wanted for breakfast was at their buffet. Great mattress. We would stay here again if we’d return to Tbilisi.

Everything. I booked two rooms at hotel winoterra two months in advance, and they confirmed my order. But on the afternoon of my check-in day, I was told only one room was available. I had to book another hotel last minute before my flight took off. I chose Glarros OldTown, and was not disappointed.
