Citadel Narikala Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Citadel Narikala Hotel on J.Ajiashvili Street, you immediately get that “I’m in the right place” feeling. This four-star property sits perfectly in the heart of Tbilisi, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but definitely catches your eye — sort of like finding a hidden gem that locals have been keeping to themselves.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re literally in the pulse of the city without feeling overwhelmed by tourist chaos. The Narikala Fortress is practically your neighbor (hence the name), and you can actually walk to most of Tbilisi’s main attractions without breaking a sweat. I mean, couples consistently rate this spot 9.4 out of 10, and after spending time in the area, I totally get why. You’ve got the old town’s cobblestone charm just steps away, but you’re also close enough to modern Tbilisi that you don’t feel cut off from anything.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of contemporary comfort and Georgian character. What struck me most was how thoughtfully everything was arranged — you know when a place actually considers how guests move through the space? The windows frame views that remind you exactly where you are, whether that’s glimpses of the fortress or the city spreading out below. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms are well-designed without being unnecessarily fancy.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here is actually impressive — they’ve got this buffet setup that covers all the bases without feeling overwhelming. Continental options sit alongside Georgian specialties, and they handle dietary restrictions really well with vegetarian and halal choices. What I appreciated most was how they incorporated local flavors into familiar formats, so you can ease into Georgian cuisine or dive right in depending on your mood. The American options are there if you need something familiar, but honestly, you’d be missing out if you didn’t try some of the local offerings.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.0 rating this place holds isn’t just numbers on a screen — it reflects what you actually experience when you stay here. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your Tbilisi experience memorable, offering insights about the city that go beyond the typical tourist script. The location score of 9.2 tells the real story though — you’re positioned to explore Tbilisi on foot, discover those little wine bars tucked into side streets, and still have a comfortable base to return to. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in the city rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

Reception works 24/7 and receptionists are very friendly , gave us some advice. My room wasn’t really ready when I arrived ( at 6 am) . It had trash in the small bin and no toothpaste. Next day everything was perfectly clean .
Food was delicious . The fact that they say everything by themselves ( salads , bakery and etc ) is amazingKatrīne from Latvia (9/10)

Very nice hotel with a romantic view. The hotel is on a steep hill, so keep that in mind before booking. Close to everything. Good treatment and help from the staff. The breakfast was fantastic, with varying hot and cold dishes. Good cleaning every day.

This hotel has probably the best views in Tbilisi, from your balcony you can see whole old town. The rooms have everything you need. The cleaning ladies were amazings, room was cleaned everyday, the towels were changed daily. The breakfast was very delicious, you have a lot to choose from. The hotel is located under the Citadela (which was closed in time of our travel- september 2024), the road to hotel is very very steep, so it's a good workout walking there. The staff were very kind and accomodating. On our departure day they arranged us transportation to the airport (50 GEL). I cannot recommend enough staying in this hotel!

The location of this place is unbeatable. Just beneath the castle (which is currently under construction) at the heart of the old city and just steps away from the Sulfur Baths. Rooms are basic, BUT the views from the rooftop terraces are unbeatable. Also the breakfast is amazing. Overall. superb value for money. Totally recommend them
