Buddha apartment Overview

I stayed at Buddha apartment in Tbilisi and I’ve gotta say, it’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’ve finally found the ‘real’ city—no tourist traps, just a slice of everyday Georgian life. It’s tucked away on 5 Giorgi Chubinashvili Street, right in the Chugureti neighborhood, which is one of those places where you can wander down a narrow lane and feel the pulse of the city. The building itself is a modest pre‑war structure with a charming, slightly uneven façade, but that’s exactly what gives it character. As soon as you step into the lobby, you notice the warm light filtering through the original windows and the faint scent of fresh coffee from the little café that’s tucked into the back of the lobby. The check‑in is quick—no endless lines, just a friendly receptionist who remembers your name from the first time you told her you’d be staying over a month ago. She gives you a keycard that works for the whole building, and she points out that the elevators are a bit slow but you can always walk up the stairs if you want a quick workout—though honestly, the stairs are a bit steep and you’ll need to keep your coffee in a sealed bag.

The rooms themselves feel like a cozy apartment more than a hotel room. The bed is a generous queen with a soft, breathable linen that’s a relief after a long day of exploring the city. The décor is minimalistic but thoughtful—there’s a small bookshelf with a few local novels (I’ve seen “The Wrecking Ball” by Soso and “The Tbilisi Nights” by Tamar, both great reads if you’re looking to dive deeper into Georgian culture). The bathroom is surprisingly spacious for a city apartment, with a rain shower that’s a nice touch; the water pressure is good, and the soap dispenser keeps the surface from slipping. I noticed a small drop of mold near the base of the shower—nothing major, but if you’re super sensitive, you might want to keep a small towel handy. The built‑in mini‑fridge is a lifesaver for late‑night cravings—just pop a bottle of water or a few pastries from the local bakery nearby, and you’re set for a midnight snack. And the view? You get a sweeping vista of the city skyline, with the distant church spires and the Aerial Tram—an instant Instagram gold.

What really shines, though, is the neighborhood vibe. Chugureti is a working‑class area, but it’s teeming with hidden gems. Just a two‑block walk, you’ll find a traditional Georgian café called “Shkaf” where the coffee is strong and the baklava is even stronger. The street market on Vake Avenue is a riot of colors and smells—fresh oranges, fresh herbs, and the unmistakable aroma of grilled kebabs. If you’re hungry in the evening, the local butcher shop, “Lasha’s Bites,” has a selection of meats that are perfect for a quick, homemade Georgian meal. For a quick escape from the city hustle, head over to Vake Park—just a short walk away and you’ll feel the city’s rhythm slow down. The apartment’s parking situation is a bit of a hassle; there isn’t a dedicated parking lot, but there are a few underground spots a few blocks away, and you can often find a spot in the back alleys if you’re willing to walk a bit. Noise levels are generally reasonable; the only thing that can get loud is the traffic on Giorgi Chubinashvili Street during rush hour, but the building’s walls are thick enough that you won’t hear the cars unless you’re right next to the window. For travelers who want to avoid the typical tourist crowds, Buddha apartment is a sweet spot that gives you a feel for the city’s everyday rhythm, plus the convenience of a well‑equipped apartment and a friendly local vibe. I mean, it’s the kind of place where you’ll be leaving with a new favorite coffee shop on your list and a genuine love for the city that’s not just your first impression.

Tbilisi’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with traditional charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this hospitable Georgian capital.
