Apartment Sweet Home at Freedom Square 2 Overview

I remember arriving at the apartment on a crisp early morning, the city still misted around the old stone walls of the Vera neighborhood. The sign on Leonidze Street read “Apartment Sweet Home at Freedom Square 2” – a name that felt like a secret invitation rather than a marketing slogan. The first time I saw the city name, Tbilisi was on the street sign, and it stuck in my mind like a local’s whispered joke. From the moment I stepped into the apartment, I could feel the city’s pulse through the walls, the distant hum of taxis, and the scent of freshly brewed coffee from a neighbor’s café that spills into the hallway every morning.

The apartment itself is a cozy, well-thought-out space that feels like a second living room. The walls are painted in warm neutrals, and the floorboards carry a subtle grain that reminds me of the old wooden houses in the historic Red Bridge area. I loved the small touches – a hand‑woven rug from a local shop, a stack of books about Georgian folklore, and a set of tea cups that look like something a grandmother would keep in her kitchen. The kitchen is surprisingly functional, with a small induction cooktop, a kettle, and a dishwasher that actually works – no more waiting for someone to come by and wash my plates. I found a quiet corner by the window that opens onto the street, where I could sit and watch the world go by – the pigeons, the street artists, and the occasional bus that rattles through. The noise level is surprisingly low, even though it’s right next to Freedom Square; the apartment’s insulation does a good job of muffling the traffic, leaving just the occasional distant chatter from the square.

Checking in was a breeze, honestly. The owner, an elderly woman named Nana, greeted me with a warm smile and a steaming pot of black tea. She handed me a key card and a quick tour, pointing out that the building’s elevator is a bit slow (you know what, you might want a spare pair of shoes for the stairs if you’re not a fan of a little workout). She also mentioned that the nearest parking spot is on the side street behind the building, but I ended up using a small underground parking lot just a block away at the Old Town market – it’s free for guests, which is a bonus. She told me about the best spots for breakfast: the bakery on the corner of Vera and Tbilisi Street serves the best khachapuri, and there’s a tiny café across the street that serves the most fragrant Turkish coffee.

Outside, the streets are alive with the sounds of children playing near the church of Metekhi, vendors calling out their fruit, and the occasional clatter of monks from the nearby monasteries. I spent an evening strolling down Vera, stopping by the old wooden bridge and then heading back to the apartment to unwind with a glass of local red wine. The apartment’s balcony (small but perfect) offers a view of the city’s skyline at dusk, with the Bridge of Peace lighting up like a constellation. The whole experience felt like living in a modern Georgian home rather than staying in a hotel. I’d recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel the heartbeat of the city, enjoy a peaceful retreat, and have a friendly, almost familial touch from the owner. The price is fair for the quality, and the location is unbeatable for navigating the old town, the new commercial districts, and even the outskirts if you take the metro. All in all, it was a stay that felt more like a chapter in my travel diary than a typical tourist stop – and that’s why it’s stuck in my mind as one of my favorite spots in Tbilisi.
