Apartment Rest Area In Old Tbilisi Overview

I stumbled upon the Apartment Rest Area In Old Tbilisi the second time I was in the city, and honestly, it’s the kind of spot that makes you feel like you’re living in a storybook, not just staying in a hotel. The address—7 Dzmebi Zdanevichebi Street, kvartira 2 etaj 1, 0105 Tbilisi—is tucked between a bustling bakery that smells like fresh bread and a tiny café that serves the best khachapuri in the area. Walking up the cobblestone steps, you almost forget you’re in a city; the air is a mix of old stone, faint incense, and the distant hum of traffic that never really stops. The building itself is a classic Georgian townhouse, its façade painted in muted ochre and the windows framed with black iron bars that give you that instant “this is old, this is real” vibe.

Check‑in was a breezy affair, no long lines or robotic kiosks, just the host—an elderly woman named Nino—who greeted me with a warm smile and handed me a key that felt like a secret. She talked about the apartment’s history, mentioning that it was once a family home and now hosts travelers from all over the world. Her stories about the old days, when the street was a hub for artists and revolutionaries, were sprinkled with anecdotes that made the place feel like a living museum. I could almost hear the clatter of pottery and the distant shout of street vendors in the evenings. Parking is a bit of a challenge if you’re driving; there’s a small, narrow lot behind the building, but you can always walk to the main street and park a bit further. It’s not a hassle, just a reminder that you’re in a city where cars weave through narrow lanes like snakes.

The apartment itself is a four‑star gem with a rating of 9.6, and it lives up to its name in every way. The living space is surprisingly spacious, with high ceilings that echo a subtle, warm hum when you walk through. The décor is a charming blend of modern and traditional: a plush sofa in a muted teal, a wooden coffee table that looks like it could have been carved by hand, and a balcony that offers a view of the old city’s rooftops, where the chimneys rise like ancient guardians. The kitchen is fully equipped, which was a lifesaver because I didn’t want to rely on restaurants every night—I love cooking a quick meal with local ingredients, and the apartment’s fridge and stove made that a breeze. The bathroom is sleek, with a rainfall shower that feels like a spa, and a small, fragrant towel rack that smells faintly of lavender, a subtle touch that made the whole room feel more intimate.

One thing you’ll notice is the soundscape. The city is alive, but the apartment’s thick windows cut out most of the traffic noise, leaving only the occasional distant siren and the soft murmur of neighbors. In the mornings, the street is alive with vendors selling fresh oranges and the scent of roasted chestnuts, while evenings bring a quieter, more intimate ambiance, with the lights of the Teatralni Street glowing like lanterns. If you’re a night owl, the apartment is a perfect nest; the city’s nightlife is just a short walk away, and you can hop onto a trolley or a taxi with ease. The only small critique I have is that the Wi-Fi can be spotty during peak hours (don’t let that ruin your streaming plans, though), but it’s usually back up in the afternoon. Another minor detail: the apartment’s laundry facilities are basic—just a washing machine and a drying rack—so if you’re packing a lot, you might want to bring a travel towel or two.

Overall, staying at Apartment Rest Area In Old Tbilisi feels like being part of the city’s rhythm. It’s a place that doesn’t just host you; it invites you into its history, its sounds, its smells, and its everyday life. If you’re looking for authenticity, a touch of local culture, and a comfortable base to explore the historic heart of Tbilisi, this is the spot that will make you feel like you belong. And honestly, after you leave, you’ll find yourself humming the city’s lullaby in your head, a subtle reminder of the warmth you found there.

Reviews of Apartment Rest Area In Old Tbilisi

  • Perfect stay in old Tbilisi – Pascaline from France – September 1, 2025 (10/10)

Marika was very kind and helpful. Giving us good tips and addresses for restaurant. Her apartment is located right in the center of Old Tbilisi. The apartment is very clean with everything we needed. We did appreciate a lot to have goodies as sleepers, soaps, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc…
The apartment is decorated with taste. We highly recommend this cute place.

  • I would recommend it to my friends and fellow travelers. Would definitely come back. – Eunice from Saudi Arabia – January 29, 2025 (10/10)

Clean, comfortable and accessible to restaurants, clubs and supermarket

What could be improved: Nothing,Everything was perfect

  • highly recommended a real jewel – Cigale from Israel – July 23, 2024 (10/10)

Very very cute apartment, clean, cozy and sweetly decorated in the old city. The location is excellent, right at the entrance to the old city, the taxi arrives very close, the area is bustling with life but the apartment itself is very quiet. Spacious rooms, sweet little kitchenette with electric stove, mini fridge, electric kettle and microwave. The owner of the apartment Marika helped us a lot, both in consultations and when we got stuck with a flight delay she helped us store things in another place. The older children won an attic that is more than an attic, really cheap, spacious and fun. Plenty of towels, surprises of soda and water in the fridge.

What could be improved: I would try to check how windows can be darkened, for those who are bothered by too much light, especially in the attic.
For those who find it difficult to walk, like my parents, there is a small climb towards the apartment. But the solution is to ask the taxis to come to the entrance and then there is no problem.

  • Exceptional – Diana from Kazakhstan – September 2, 2023 (10/10)

Clean apartment with an excellent location and really nice and polite landlord. Everything important is in the house, washing machine, coffee maker, ironer, the dishes and many other things for a comfortable stay.

  • Apartment in old Tbilisi – Elena from United States – July 27, 2023 (9/10)

The location is excellent, right in the heart of old Tbilisi. Narikala fortress is seen from the skylight, and is within walking distance. Please see the first picture below.
Kura river is just a 2 min walk. Metehi is 3 min short walk.

There is a restaurant in every building on the way from the apartment to Freedem/Liberty Square. And we had our favorite one, after a couple of days.

Marika is very nice and helpful.
The space was enough for 2 families.
    AC was working perfectly fine.
No issues with showers, toilets, beds, fridges, or stove.

What could be improved: The kitchen was a bit small for our big group, but it wasn't a huge problem, considering we were only eating breakfast at home.

  • Perfect! – Vital from Belarus – June 8, 2025 (10/10)

A great place to stay for a vacation with a large family or a group of friends. Three separate bedrooms and two bathrooms make it very convenient. The apartment has everything you need for a long holiday. The location is absolutely perfect for sightseeing.

  • Wonderful – Kheng from Malaysia – June 3, 2023 (9/10)

Location and design of the house

What could be improved: Attic when on light insects flight in.

  • Amazing location, perfect apartment for a family, we would love to come back and stay at this place. – Dafna from Israel – November 24, 2022 (10/10)

An amazing apartment in a perfect location in the heart of the old city. Adjacent to restaurants and major tourist sites. Quiet apartment. A kitchen with basic cooking accessories. Perfect for a family

What could be improved: The upper floor is an attic with slopes. You had to be careful not to get hit in the head.

  • Great location and clean – Rebecca from Australia – August 27, 2025 (8/10)

Great location and lots of beds to fit us all. Kitchen was good, if small. Clean apartment

What could be improved: Would have loved an area to sit outside as the sitting area in kitchen was small. It is hard to find at night so if you are arriving late with bags it would be worth carrying a headtorch so you aren't struggling up the cobbled hill with bags, a phone for instructions and using as a torch (not an issue at all, just a heads up to future guests)

  • Very Good – Daniel from Israel – February 11, 2025 (8/10)

Great location in the old city by the river.

What could be improved: The dining area isn't very large.
    Gallery toilet ceiling pretty law.
