AnNi old Tbilisi apartaments Overview

I just stayed at AnNi old Tbilisi apartaments in Tbilisi, and honestly, the first thing that struck me was the smell of fresh coffee from the little corner café that’s just a block away—no, not the big chain, the one with the cracked ceramic mugs that locals swear by. The building itself is a quirky mix of old Soviet brick and modern touches—think polished steel on the elevator doors and a touch of exposed brick in the lobby that gives it a sort of lived‑in vibe. Check‑in was quick; the front desk lady was friendly and handed me a key card with a handwritten note that said “Welcome home, enjoy your stay.” She mentioned that the building’s free parking is spotty—there’s a small lot on the street, but you have to be early or risk sitting in the back of the lot where the tires squeak with the rush of traffic.

The apartment itself is about 20 square meters, but it’s clever: a Murphy bed, a small kitchenette with a kettle, fridge, and a tiny stove. The walls are painted in neutral tones, and the floor is a warm oak that feels older than it looks. I found that the window opens to a street that’s a little noisy in the early morning—there’s a bus line that runs through the block, so you might hear the clatter of wheels at 5 am. But that’s part of the charm; you’re right in the middle of the city, and you can hear the distant call of a street vendor selling khinkali—those dumplings smell like a mix of garlic and basil, and the vendor’s name is “Mika,” you can hear him shout it when he sees you. During the day, the apartment is bright, and the single window view shows a small courtyard where a couple of people are doing yoga in the sunshine. I paused to watch them for a few minutes; the whole place feels like a living room in the heart of the city.

If you’re planning to explore, the street you’re on, Elene Akhvlediani, is a great spot for wandering. Just a few minutes’ walk brings you to the old town’s main square, where the Ottoman-era clock tower still stands, and the wine shops line the streets with Armenian and Georgian blends—try the “Tsinandali” at the corner, it’s a local favorite. I also took the metro from the nearby station, which is a five‑minute walk, and it’s surprisingly quiet—no screaming crowds, just the rhythmic clatter of the trains. For a night out, there’s a small jazz bar on the corner that plays a mix of Georgian folk and contemporary tunes; the bartender knows your name if you’re there often, which is a nice touch. The only downside I found was the Wi‑Fi. It’s decent for browsing, but if you’re trying to stream video, it can hiccup when the whole block is buzzing. Also, the apartment’s heating is a bit on the low side in winter, so I had to pull a blanket over the sofa in January. But it’s a small thing, and the building does have a communal laundry room that’s surprisingly clean. All in all, if you want a place that feels like a slice of everyday life in Tbilisi, with a pinch of history, the AnNi old Tbilisi apartaments is a solid pick.
