AhmashenebeliApart Overview

I stumbled upon AhmashenebeliApart the second time I was wandering the old part of the city, the kind of place that feels like a secret that only locals know about. The building itself is a two‑story Georgian townhouse that’s been converted into a boutique 4‑star stay, and the moment you step through the front door, you’re hit with that warm, almost burnt‑sugar scent that comes from the coffee machine in the lobby. The reception desk is manned by a pair cheerful girls who greet you with a smile and a quick question: “Are you staying for the gala night or just to see the old bazaar?” It’s a pretty quick check‑in; they have a digital system so there’s no waiting in line, but they still hand you a small card with a QR code for the elevator, because they’re a bit tech‑savvy.

Parking is actually a breeze – there’s a small underground lot right next to the entrance, and they charge a modest fee that’s far cheaper than the usual city rates. If you drive, you’ll find a narrow lane that leads straight to the lot, and the attendants are friendly enough to point out the nearest public bus stop. Speaking of buses, the metro station is just a five‑minute walk from the hotel, but the streets in the old quarter can be a bit uneven, so a pair of sturdy shoes is a must. I remember once tripping on a stone in front of the hotel, but the hotel staff were quick to offer a bottle of water and a nearby café that serves the best khachapuri in town.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious for a city apartment, with high ceilings that make the place feel airy. I stayed in a two‑bedroom suite that has a small balcony overlooking the Tbilisi River. The balcony is a quiet refuge – the only sound is the distant traffic and the occasional chatter from the nearby park. It’s a great spot for a morning espresso or a sunset cocktail. The beds are super comfortable, and the linens feel like a soft hug; the hotel’s staff even bring you a fresh set each morning, which is a thoughtful touch. The bathroom is sleek, and the shower has a good water pressure that makes for a refreshing start to a day of exploring. I did find the noise from the street at night to be a bit louder than I’d hoped, but the windows are double‑glazed, so you’re mostly shielded from the traffic jam that can happen on the main road.

The restaurant on the ground floor is a hidden gem. It serves traditional Georgian fare with a modern twist; I tried the khinkali and it was so flavorful that I almost asked for a second plate. The staff is chatty and knows the menu inside out, so they can recommend dishes based on your taste. The space is cozy, with a mix of rustic wooden tables and contemporary art pieces that give it a local vibe. There’s also a small bar that has a decent selection of local wines, and the bartender is happy to explain the differences between the various vintages.

If you’re planning to visit the Old Town, the hotel’s location is ideal. From the lobby, you can walk to the Metekhi Church in just a few minutes, and you’ll pass by the bustling Biltmore Market where locals sell fresh produce and handmade crafts. The streets are lined with historic buildings, and the scent of fresh bread from nearby bakeries lingers in the air. I’ve also found that the area is pretty lively around sunset, with street performers and musicians adding a lively soundtrack to the night.

Overall, AhmashenebeliApart feels like a home away from home. The staff’s genuine enthusiasm and the thoughtful touches – the quick check‑in, the free water, the local recommendations – make it feel less like a hotel and more like a friendly neighbor. Honestly, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience the real heart of Tbilisi without sacrificing comfort. The only thing I’d suggest is to book in advance during the spring festivals, because the area can get crowded, and the hotel tends to fill up quickly. But if you’re looking for an authentic, local experience that still offers the convenience of a 4‑star stay, this is the spot for you.

Apartments in Tbilisi provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Georgian markets and cook with fresh Caucasian ingredients.

This apartment is in great location and is an excellent value for the money. All the small details are well thought through, and there is everything a guest could possibly need in the apartment. And should I mention a bottle of wine in the fridge upon arrival?!
Will definitely stay there again when we come back to Tbilisi

What could be improved: The bathroom is a bit small, so it might be somewhat tight for a big person

  • Wonderful – Jordi from Spain – June 9, 2025 (9/10)
