160 degrees Overview

I was in Tbilisi when I walked into 160 degrees and felt that instant buzz of the city—like the street outside humming with scooters, vendors, and the scent of roasted chestnuts. The hotel sits on Betlemi Street, a narrow lane that feels like a hidden corridor between the Old Town’s stone facades and the bustling modernity of Rustaveli Avenue. From the lobby, you can see the church spires of the Holy Mother of God Cathedral, and just a few blocks away, the old railway station has been turned into a cafe where locals sip strong black coffee. The building itself is a sleek, mid‑century structure with large glass windows that let in the afternoon light, giving the lobby a warm, almost buttery glow. The front desk is staffed 24/7, and the check‑in process is quick—just a friendly smile and a handful of keys, and you’re in. I didn’t even need to climb a few flights of stairs; the elevator is surprisingly quiet and fast, which is a relief considering the hotel is right next to a busy intersection.

The rooms are the real treat. The bedding is luxuriously soft, with a mix of deep‑blue linens that contrast nicely with the exposed brick walls. The bathroom is a little like a spa—think marble tiles, a rain shower that’s loud enough to drown out the city’s clamor, and a small corner with a plush bathrobe that feels like a personal gift. I appreciated the little touches: a selection of local Georgian teas, a small fridge stocked with fresh fruit, and a high‑speed Wi‑Fi connection that doesn’t lag when I was trying to upload a photo of the sunset over Mt. Tbilisi. Parking is a bit of a hassle; the hotel’s own spot is limited, so I had to park a block away on a private lot that charges daily. It’s a bit of a walk, but the route is straightforward—just follow Betlemi down to the traffic light, then turn right into the narrower side street. When I went back for the last time, the noise level was surprisingly low. The building’s soundproofing is top‑notch, so you’re not waking up to the rumble of traffic or the chatter from the street below.

What really makes this place feel like a home away from home are the little bits of local life that you can’t miss. The corner bakery across the street sells fresh khachapuri and offers a steaming cup of black coffee that tastes like history. On Sundays, a group of musicians practice in the courtyard, filling the air with the melancholic tunes of a duduk and the rhythmic clinking of darbuka drums. The staff at 160 degrees are all friendly and ready to
