❁ Casa Frida ❁ Exceptional Stay In Old Town! ❁ Overview

I stayed in Tbilisi last month during a shoulder‑season trip, and the first thing that hit me was the way the city feels like a living museum. The old town’s cobblestones still remember the weight of centuries, and there you’re greeted by the distant hum of trams, the scent of fresh coffee from the tiny café on Rue Vertskhli, and the unmistakable buzz of people chatting in a mix of Georgian and English. Check‑in was a bit of a ritual: the receptionist—who swears she’s a descendant of a 19th‑century merchant—took my ID, handed me a key card that was almost a work of art, and then ran a quick scan through the building’s old security system that still uses a manual card reader. It was a little awkward but made the place feel genuinely historic, like you’re stepping back into a time when everything was hand‑made.

The room itself is a cozy, two‑bedroom unit that feels more like a boutique apartment than a hotel room. The window faces the narrow lanes of the Old Town, and every evening you could see the Sioni Cathedral’s spire silhouetted against the sunset. The beds are surprisingly plush—think deep mattress with a thick, quilted duvet that keeps you warm in the winter chill. The bathroom has a glass shower that gives you a view of the outside. I found the Wi‑Fi a tad unreliable; the signal drops out when the street performers take over the square, but honestly, the connection is fine enough for a quick email. The minibar was stocked with local craft beers and a small selection of Georgian honey and walnuts that made for a sweet treat after a day of walking.

Out of the building, the real adventure starts. Vertskhli Street is a stone’s throw from the Abanotubani bathhouse, so I took a quick dip in the thermal waters after an early morning run. The street itself is lined with small shops that sell handmade jewelry and local spices; I still have a small bag of saffron from a stall that looked like it belonged in a spice market of a different era. If you’re craving a bite, the café next door—called “Luka’s”—serves the best khachapuri I’ve ever had; the cheese is gooey, the crust buttery, and the coffee is strong enough to lift your spirits. I also discovered a hidden gem a block away—a tiny tea house on a side street that serves traditional Georgian tea with a side of “khinkali” (dumplings) that melt in your mouth. The only downside I noticed was the parking: there’s a small lot behind the hotel, but it fills up fast, especially during the summer. The noise level at night is surprisingly low; the streets quiet down after 10 pm, giving you a chance to hear the distant echo of a violin.

All in all, this place is a real slice of Tbilisi life, not a generic tourist trap. The staff remember your name after just one visit, the rooms feel like a home, and the city itself wraps around you with a mix of history, aroma, and sound. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the authentic rhythm of an old Georgian capital, I’d say this is the spot.

Honestly, this place is fantastic! The attention to detail in the decor is incredible, it's a really beautiful and very comfortable apartment with everything you need. The mattresses are good, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking, all the other facilities are well thought-out. The location is great! Apart from being stunned by the place itself, we really got amazed by the care and help provided by the host. The host was super helpful and friendly. He gave all the instructions beforehand, kept in touch all the time, sent a list of recommendations for us, welcomed us with a bottle of Georgian wine and let us do a late check out. • Choose it! – Wenyuan from China – February 18, 2024 (10/10)

Divine decoration. Never have I seen such beautiful colour combination and artistic interior in an apartment. Responsive and helpful host. Great location near the clock.

What could be improved: Nothing really. Just remember to get your eye masks ready, as the bedrooms are close to the street lights – so at night they can be light.

Our stay in Tbilisi was nothing short of magical, thanks to the incredible experience we had at this apartment. From the moment we stepped in, we felt like we had found a true home away from home.

The apartment's location is superb, nestled in the heart of Tbilisi, providing easy access to all the city's attractions. The vibrant neighborhood offered a perfect blend of local charm and modern convenience, with quaint cafes, lively markets, and cultural landmarks just steps away.

Upon entering the apartment, we were immediately struck by its impeccable cleanliness and stylish decor. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, from the tasteful furnishings to the carefully chosen artwork. The apartment exuded a cozy ambiance that made us feel instantly comfortable and relaxed.

What truly set this apartment apart, however, was the exceptional hospitality of the hosts. They went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, offering invaluable local tips, arranging transportation, and ensuring we had everything we needed. Their warmth and friendliness added a personal touch that made our Tbilisi experience truly unforgettable.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a place to stay in Tbilisi that combines comfort, style, and exceptional hospitality, look no further. This apartment exceeded our expectations in every way, and we can't wait to return. Thank you for making our stay in Tbilisi truly wonderfully!

  • Wonderful – Romy from Netherlands – September 22, 2023 (9/10)

Everything, they made the place with so much love and attention to detail. It also has everything you need for a comfortable stay and the host and his mother were darling. Definitely recommended!

What could be improved: Hard to think of something, it's really so good here! It would've been nice if the tiny balcony would be a place to relax in the open air after a day of seeing the city, but it was merely a small space to smoke.
